[Andrew Gross] Bo Horvat, asked about upcoming return to Vancouver, said he’s not sure how fans will react. He knows what he said going out the door might have been misinterpreted. Said his frustration was with management, never the fans. Loved his time in Vancouver. Very happy now w/ Isles

Bo was great while he was here. Tough to be a young captain in this market while on a shit team with bad management and coaching.

  2. saint_godzilla

My dudes, Horvat was a wagon on some shit teams. Please give him a warm welcome when he comes back, he’s earned it.

  3. shurpaderp

I’d be surprised if he got booed, fans should be happy with how things turned out and it’s not like Horvat asked for a trade.

  4. ZackyGood

I think what he said last year was unfortunately timed.
A lot of us really did love Horvat while he was here. He put in a lot of hard work and effort into his play. But once those words left his mouth, off fell the rose tinted glasses. It wasn’t hard to see that he had accomplished very little with the Canucks over his tenure here and a lot of the fans that were on his side before the trade (myself included) didn’t take note of that as he departed. His time here was just that, time. It wasn’t over good, nor bad. Horvat did his time and left.

I don’t think we misinterpreted what he said, I think he just said the wrong thing to hype up the Isles crowd.

It was a good thing he told them that for free because his salary costs the team a shit-tonne.

  6. Imaginary-Ladder-465

Loved Bo while he was here, I’ll tell you that for free

Lets not forget our final offer was reported around 7 mill. He was asking for way too much for a player that generates little offence other than being a good bumper guy.

  8. epochlink

Canucks are good this year without him, what must he think of them know? Especially with Pettersson, Miller, Hughes, Boeser having such great starts.

  9. nihilism_ftw

Still like Horvat, but care a lot less about him than other captains/alternates I can tell you that for free

I am always behind the fans saying and doing whatever they want, but I really hope we cheer Bo. Wasn’t his fault we were shit for so long.

Horvat gets a LONG standing O – guaranteed.

Any less and I’d be ashamed of the home crowd.

Consummate pro. The only time he has ever misspoke was after an unceremonious mid season trade scenario. Give him a break on that one.

Do I wish things went differently during his tenure? Absolutely.

Do I sometimes wish he used his thick solid frame and skill set a bit differently to appease the ideals I had for him and his career?
    Oh for sure.

Did I ever think the Canucks could have had a better captain during the time Horvat spent with a C on his jersey?
    Never.

    Standing O for Bo!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  12. cheguevara9

I never thought Bo was a great player, but he’s done a lot for the community and was a decent captain. He deserves a warm welcome.

  13. Intelligent_Base_931

Give him a standing ovation during his video tribute. Thereafter, its fair game!

  14. rfdavid

He’s fine, no need to make his life worse. Also: fuck Messier!

  15. redditguyinthehouse

Horvat was fine, he deserves cheers. Might go down as a top 5 forgettable captain over the years though

  16. MountainGrab860

Management had to cut Miller or Horvat loose. They made the right choice. And I’ll tell you that for free.

Horvat could never play the role Miller is playing under Tocchet. Plus Miller is a much better offensive player too.

  17. Still love Bo, and wish him the best. I really hope he gets nothing but cheers that night. Important for fans to remember, current players see and hear this too, they still love Bo, and will be happier if we show him love.

Also, Bo kept giving after leaving, what he said has given us endless jokes and laughs.

  18. crap4you

This is the first time that I’ve seen confirming that there was a problem with management. Horvat probably isn’t alone with the frustrations amongst players.

  19. jackhustle

It’ll be interesting to see if our fans cheer him after he turned on them and insulted our entire fanbase in front of his new team. Classless move. Could have said anything else, but shat all over our fans specifically.

I get that people say things that they don’t mean when they’re frustrated though. He’s a hockey player, I don’t expect him to be good with words.

A man of class, maturity and integrity doesn’t stoop to that level.

  20. TheRealTollah

Loved Bo for his tenure here.

Really wish he didn’t throw the fans under the bus. What he said was upsetting to people because it was directed at the fans. Not management.

  21. mediumyeet

I’ve got no gripes with Horvat. He should get a warm welcome back.

I never thought he was anything special as a player and I don’t think he is a natural leader however I believe he always tried his best to do what he thought was right and that he is a good person that always made time for people. I respect him as a person and all of the work he put into support the community. Regardless of play that should be enough to give him some love.

  22. ForceEconomy9988

I’m on team “standing O during his tribute, boo him mercilessly when he has the puck”

Bo is a good guy who did a lot during his time in Vancouver, however, it’s hockey, and its fun, so he should be booed

  23. Yeah I was never really a Horvat guy. I was absolutely crucified on here for suggesting we get rid of him

  24. JTMilleriswortha1st

Love Bo but i’m glad we traded him when we did. Hopefully the fans don’t boo him too hard

  25. Deep-Raspberry6787

Some of you guys forget this man took a pay cut for us. He did his best for us and that’s what matters, happy for him now

  26. MooseMalloy

There’s no more thankless job in hockey than being the captain of a losing team.

He’s moved on, we’ve moved on. I think polite applause is probably the appropriate welcome for him.

  27. IamPriapus

Whether he gets booed or not, the words he used, in the manner he used them, were extremely immature and a bit hurtful. I watched that video again recently and it’s clear he wasn’t just talking about the management. He also said it with some genuine snark like he was happy to be leaving the entire city. Well, the team has performed much better without you, Bo. 8.5m/aav would’ve been a massive overpayment for someone who, since leaving the team, has 25 pts in 41 games for a team currently sitting 12th in their conference.
