Leafs follower, but I feel for Flames fans right now. I thought they were a team one or two moves away from seriously competing for the cup and over the last year or so things seem to be completely imploding. There has to be more going on here.

I think he has just done the math and knows that the Flames will be a big seller at trade deadline and rebuilding for the next few years and he'd rather play on a contending team. I don't blame him. A lot of others are going to leave throughout this season and off season. It'll be a completely different team next year.

This video reminds me how there are some really overmatched head coaches in the NHL. Calgary and Columbus come to mind. Hiring weak coaches leads to this type of situation with Zadorov.

Devils need his big bodied, hard hitting presence more than anyone. Maybe he could even reignite that flame of consistent physicality and desire to stick up for the skill guys in Lazar, Palat, Bastain, Timo, and the whole defense.
