GAME RECAP: Penguins vs. Sabres (11.11.23) | Crosby, Karlsson Keep Point Streaks Alive

After a very successful California road trip, the Penguins returned to PPG Paints Arena, where they took on the Sabres. While the opening period had a whopping 29 combined shots on goal, only one went in with 59 seconds left to play. Evgeni Malkin backhanded the puck towards the Buffalo net from the corner of the rink. The puck glanced off the side of goaltender Luukkonen’s mask and bounced into the net, giving Pittsburgh a 1-0 lead through 20 minutes. In the 2nd period, a great pass from Lars Eller got Drew O’Connor into a one-on-one situation. O’Connor powered his shot through Luukkonen, putting the home team up, 2-0. Just 27 seconds into the 3rd period, Erik Karlsson struck on the power play. This goal extended Karlsson’s point streak to five games (2G-6A). To close things out, Karlsson also scored into an empty net, putting Pittsburgh up, 4-0. Karlsson has now earned nine points (3G-6A) through five games. Sidney Crosby also picked up an assist on that tally, extending his point streak to eight games (4G-6A). Goaltender Tristan Jarry stopped all 35 shots he faced, giving him a league-leading three shutouts on the season.

  1. Starting to look like the pens we’d thought they would be this year!!! A lot of new guys it’s taking time to get in sync

  2. Pathetic! EK65 scores his first home goal, probably a moment he was waiting for, and they totally blow the announcement 15 mins later. Good thing they waited until they got the call right.

  3. The mojo is brewing. Games have been killer. It’s still feels surreal seeing EK out there. Army has been an awesome addition to the broadcast booth. It’s lit in pit!
