The Devils are 5-2-1 through the first eight games and yet there is an angst among a segment of the fanbase. The guys discuss early season injuries, shuffling lines and maintaining a winning approach.
Alexander Holtz has gone from the second line to the fourth, and while that would have sent alarm bells ringing in normally, Adam sees it has a roster that has flexibility to find the best combinations throughout the roster.
The defense needs to be better, the goaltending more consistent and yet- it is hard to not see the early season as right on schedule for this young team.

I think this team has enough fire power that any given night someone will step up!!! We have holes and SMITH is one of them!! I like the dude in the locker room but he costs us a goal in every game. He is good for 2 mins in the box easily!!! His numbers are awful. bottom line. A rookie can give you these numbers and at least learn the nhl game while doing it!! there is no upside to smith. He is who he is.
It’s fine we won’t be a top three team like last year but GM needs to fill the holes they lost last year wood Tatar and Yegor and Boqvist are all good skaters and secondary scoring and loss of severson and graves need to add a guy next season
We are gonn get crushed in playoffs this year but gained a few high upside players in offseason

Blaming Smith for every woe is just childish and oh so lazy
Last year the fans were chanting to fire the coach right off the bat, so you gotta take fan complaints on social media with a grain of salt. The idea is to get better and better as the season goes on, and add to the roster as we closer to the deadline. Having been a fan of this team since the 80's, I'm just happy to see the Devils be relevant again. Lots of hockey to go, excited for all the upcoming games.

Excellent youtube pod cast, I really like the way you guys break down things. I agree with Danny 17 minutes is ridiculous.
I get it, with Holtz it is about consistency, he has to play the Buffalo game almost nightly. That said, if that goal was onside against the Wild, Holtz would have 4 points in 6 games. Do you think that deserves more ice time? Yes. Will Ruff do that? No
