I’m a Blackhawks fan who watched this game because the hawks had three first round picks in it, but Seamus Casey in my opinion was far and away the most dynamic player on the ice, which is super impressive considering the number of first round picks playing in it. I knew he was a good prospect, but I was blown away by his skating (especially edge work), vision, decision making, and shooting. I’m not the best at analyzing defense and I know that his weaker point, but regardless I figured you guys would enjoy the highlights of this game lol.
Casey has a nice assist on Michigans first goal after a few nice feeds, attempts a slick drag shot later on, and then he even scores as Michigans second shooter(!) in the shootout. For those of you not following, Casey leads michigan in points, is fourth overall in the NCAA, and has a four point lead over the second highest scoring defenseman. Incredible to me that the devils have three high-caliber offensively gifted D prospects (including Luke Hughes) and I’m excited to follow them in the NHL!

Also side note: Jack Hughes was 95% the reason I started following hockey at all when he played on the NTDP so I consider the devils to be second team now. He’s the only jersey I own right now and is still easily my favorite player (i even wore his jersey to a random hawks vs golden knights game a few years ago because I think random jerseys are funny lol) but I wouldn’t be surprised if Bedard passes him at some point this season
Chicago transplant to Jersey here! Sheamus is an absolutely dynamite prospect. Incredible two way player, solid at home on D but a great eye for the offensive side of the game too. Reminds me a lot of Seabrook. He’s a little on the smaller side and the Devils have a lot of prospect depth at D so I question whether he ever actually cracks the Devils’ roster, especially given our needs in net and Casey’s value as a trade chip, but he’s an absolute stud.
