I hope GMRF is considering a conversation with Jay Woodcroft. The inconsistency has plagued us all three seasons and IMO a change behind the bench could be the swift kick in the butt this team needs. Not sure it needs to be the head coach or Woodcroft is the answer, but he’s more talented than Hak.

Daccord is coming up big regularly but I can’t help but wonder what he would look like if he simplified his game. So much scrambling. Also really struggles with sight lines through traffic, which contributes to the scrambling.

We suck. It sucks. Fuck the Avs. See y’all on Wednesday.

  4. dicks_out_for

Remember when we were ahead 1-0? Good times

edit: also obligatory FUCK KALE MAKAR and yes I will disrespect you by spelling your name like some disgusting vegetable that’s only good in that italian sausage soup

I generally try to avoid negativity after losses but I think the last 2 games (and the season in general) require it.

The Kraken were down 1 goal at home going into the 3rd and managed a total of 1 shot on goal in the period. This is on top of poor performances in both the 2nd and 3rd against Edmonton as well. (edit: 1st period against Edmonton was bad, 3rd was good.)

This is just an unacceptable lack of effort.

~~What’s even more frustrating is that in both games the Kraken had pretty good 1st periods.~~ We know they can play significantly better because they do it for flashes each game, they simply do not sustain it for a full 60. And it’s not like they are just getting out skilled, they are getting out worked.

One potential upside is that the kraken have played a fairly hard schedule with most opponents making the playoffs last year. We haven’t had any games against teams like San Jose to get the good mojo working. Maybe things turn around with some lesser opponents, but no matter who we play the level and consistency of effort is just not good enough at this point.

    JOEY LIKE BUTTON!

He played great and got left out to dry

  7. RF needs to make some non roster related changes.

  8. #No menus tonight. Printers broken, out of ink, kitchens on fire boys and girls.

Mods, can we sticky this? So we don’t have to scroll past all the optimistic posts from earlier in the day of this sad ass hockey club

  10. yungxcuervo

we’re the 3am booty call for losing teams… when is it OUR turn 😔

  11. MurrayInBocaRaton

This team is as inspired as a half-empty compost bin.

  12. adrianp07

Good guy refs wanted to make sure we weren’t blowing a 2 goal lead again

  13. hawkfan78

ROOT Sports needs to not show opposing fans every time their team scores. Like I’m not already pissed enough, then I’ve got to watch some greaseball in an Avs jersey pointing at me in the camera. Fuck off with that, this isn’t a national broadcast. Hell, the national networks don’t even do that. It’s like ROOT sends a guy out to camp in front of opposing fans, ready for an instant reaction on a goal. /rant

    What a mess!

Only 1 SOG in the entire 3rd period, are you fucking kidding me???

  15. eggs-benedryl

    playing consistently✂️this kills the squid

  16. AtYourServais

It’s one thing to lose games and it’s another to be completely lifeless. We have had way too many games this year that have been brutal to watch.

  17. It’s time to start thinking about cleaning house. The coaching has definitely got to go, there’s no clear direction on offense and the defense isn’t special. And Francis has to be on thin ice too, the complete disregard for seeking talent to add to the roster is half the reason we’re in this mess to begin with. The young talent needs to be developed, and they need blue chip firepower.

This team has a *long* way to go.

  18. Mrdean2013

The first years troubles sucked but they were to be expected. First year teams in any professional sport rarely crack fireworks. There was lower to no expectations.

Last year proved tremendous improvement and it appeared we had a solid team with an identity. This year is such a demoralizing one because there were expectations to be better. The team largely is still together, but they’re playing just as bad as the first years team; some nights it seems worse.

They don’t seem to have the vibes and energy like they did last year. There’s rarely any enthusiasm and they’re getting outwitted and outcoached most of the time. This team needs a clear superstar to be a consistent playoff contender. It needs better leadership.

  19. adrianp07

This has to be the worst 3rd period team in the NHL by a wide margin right?

  20. Genuinely what is wrong with our team??? Where is the chemistry or like anything???

  21. Go_Hawks12

It hurts to say this but this is our true team. Last year basically everyone had career years and now ice cold. No superstars, no off season improvements. We lay an egg 4 out of every 5 games it seems like. This season against good teams we look like we play in a different league.

  22. coyoteinapond

Told myself I wasn’t getting drunk tonight. Sigh

  23. jjbjeff22

Well that fucking sucked. First period looked promising then shit went downhill starting in the 2nd.

  24. NorEastahBunny

Where does it hurt? Somewhere in the heart region I guess. Sigh.

God dammit. The good news is we don’t have to play the Avs again til next year. I literally hate any game against them. I hate playing them more than any other team on planet earth. I can’t stand them and anyone coming in here being like “well ackchually it’s only season 3 and you don’t know anything about a rivalry” can follow the directions Dunner gave the ref tonight and get F’d.

I think Larsson and Dunn played well ONCE AGAIN. Joey played well but no goalie can keep holding down the fort when we take 0 shots in the third period and the puck is living its best life in our half.

I gotta go to sleep. I’m too tired for this and I need to function as a human tomorrow. See y’all tomorrow.

  25. nagisasigh

Do we have to play the Canucks on Saturday? With the past two games, Im having trouble imagining it going well😅

  26. best4last89

We’re reaching a turning point. We either need to go on a winning streak that starts in the next couple games, or we need to commit to losing. There’s nothing worse than being bad, going on a mid season run and drafting middle of the pack. The team is already built for future success so another high draft pick will only add to our well endowed rookie coffers.

  27. ShadowCrossZero

They completely lost the wind in their sails after the first. Very jarring.

  28. A_crackinthecup

Downvote me, but I think the alot of these vets should be traded. And we should just play with primarily youngsters and handful of vets

  29. Probably not a popular opinion, but if the team doesn’t drastically improve in the next 4 weeks, we’re looking at a new coach for Christmas.

  30. NorEastahBunny

Also. Love the Avs thread still focusing on Makar getting booed. For a fan base that “doesn’t care”, they’re spending a lot of time talking about it 🤣 “yeah well he scored so how about that, still gonna boo him?”

You think I’m gonna turn around and become a fan of his? I’d rather eat dog shit off a sidewalk before I ever support that dirtbag. He and MacKinnon will forever remain hated players in my opinion.

  31. PlanetMercy

Well I’m sorry guys. The 7 games I’ve been to, they’ve lost and I was there tonight. I’ll stop going.

  32. FreezingRain358

At least we’ll all be able to claim we aren’t bitch ass bandwagoners one day?

  33. Can’t shoot the puck if you don’t have it. Their O-zone entry strategy is not working. Think teams are onto the fact they are one trick pony and thus are cheating to the boards. Easy turnover, then the play is going the other way with Kraken forwards chasing the play from behind. Coaches need to come up with another strat. So many of their losses are a copy of these last two games.

  34. Alternative_Top2875

Bad teams watch the game in the second period. Kraken watched the game in the second period.bHak needs to get them consistent or draft in the top 6 next year, plain and simple.

  35. BucksBrew

You know how you watch other teams and you hold your breath when certain players have the puck in our zone? That must be nice to have.

  36. Alternative_Top2875

Also hate the gamesmanship which translates to being out coached. The beat us to a fight in the first period by taking on Oleksiak, and no retaliation for Tanec from the opener. Bad coaching and situational awareness by Hak.

  37. daft_punked

Just like the Oilers game and many others we simply just disappear from the game. During the last part of first period against the Oilers we had a -15 in shots count. Here against the Avs during the final 5 minutes of the second and the whole of third they had 24 shots to our 3, only a small minus of 21. Of course we lost both games as a direct result from those kind of performances.

The extra energy the players should have from using four lines as much as we do are simply not there.

  38. I have a feeling the team this year will regress to the mean, and we finish somewhere in the lottery. Not all bad. I guess. I think getting quality draft picks are important. The shitty part is they, at least, need to play competitive games. Right now, they seem to have scoring issues.

  39. seattlesportsguy

Looks like instead of the charmed life that Vegas got to enjoy that we’re going to get the more traditional expansion team experience.

It’s ok though. Being complete trash and having the occasional good season is more befitting a Seattle sports team anyways. With the exception of the Seahawks, which we’re definitely going to pay for eventually, success is fleeting in this market. Lot of one year windows.
