  1. She’s looking like Jay is out of a job, unfortunately it’s because of goaltending. Broken record. Wouldn’t it be something if the Oil could get goaltending like the opposition tonight?

  2. I'd see if they could use McLeod in a trade to bring in a goalie. Had a quiet start to the year and hasn't stood out much. He does bring value to a trade, but he hasn't been what we've needed him to be for the start of this season. At some point you need a few games of over .900 save percentage.

  3. It’s such a mess right now. Lacking basic skills like back checking, and defensive coverage. You can’t blame the goalies on this mess.

  4. Listen to the game and the team with superior goaltending won. Van is playing on all cylinders and the oil are not. I agree if they tank in SJ then someone has to go. Still think McD is not 100% due to injury. Get well soon .

  5. We are kinda in no man’s land right now. I wouldn’t fire Jay cause statistically, this team is not as bad as it’s record but at the end of the day it 2-8-1. The Oilers were the second best team in the league since he’s taken over. Holland has publicly said it’s his last year and in no case do I see him getting fired. And like you said it’s hard to make a trade this early. Nothing is good right now👎

  6. Man even the decade of darkness wasn’t this depressing we all had cup aspirations coming into this season this sucks

  7. Like I keep saying it's time to make some trades. Something has to happen and I don't think it's quite the time to fire coach. Patrick get a bottle of rum or brandy through the system to shack that cold 🥶

  8. MY GOD WHAT is it whit atles mcdavid and draisaitl they are playing like 2 bums how is it just possible that a player do 64 goals and 89 assist =154 points last year and now he have 9 points in 9 games and only 2 goals i just dont understand this i have never in my life been seing a player change like that from 1 season 2 another???????????? Its so unbelivebel SAD 2 see 😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢

  9. That was a great goal by Desharnais on Skinner. The Oilers have some good talent but sloppy play rules the day, every day, no discipline.

  10. I saw something about a thing in Connor Brown's contract about getting a 3.25 million bonus if does good in the first 10 games. so that could be a good thing if true. means we have some added cap space and we may see him go because of it. you check into that? just for verification?

jay getting punted from the game as well, thats never happened before that i am aware of.

  11. Currently, the Oilers are dying from a thousand cuts with many of these cuts being self inflicted (ie. a cumulation of individual errors). And, I'm not sure how they could change personnel at this particular time to their advantage. So, what can they do? While it wouldn't be easy, perhaps the best solution would be to recover their confidence and with that, a serious change in their mindset. After all, if you dwell on negative thoughts then negative is what you're probably going to get in return.

  12. Hope your feeling better man!! This team desperately needs a goalie🤯

  13. Preds might be open to moving Soros but it would take a massive amount of futures to pull off especially if you expect them to eat Campbell's deal.

  14. You should be more worried that McDavid looks like he wants a new start. Leon can’t be much further behind. What an amazing waste of talent.

  15. At one point i think the shots were 19-4 for the Oilers and the score was 2-1 Canucks.

  16. This is brutal to watch. I can't believe that this is the same team from last year. If we lose to the Sharks I'm canceling my sportsnet subscription due to mental health reasons.

  17. Long post follows with base game statistics including some for Vancouver. Read, don't read, up to you. These are BASE stats not detailed ones.

Ah, where to start in this dumpster fire…. The 10 minute game misconduct by Leon in the third to cap off the 24 MINUTES of PENALTY TIME the Oilers GIFTED Vancouver (and they scored on 3 of 6 PP's so the PK was bad too). Woody being ejected. Ekholm getting his first goal on the season on a PP (with Gagner and Kane so it was the 2PP. Look, someone needs to have a hand to throad discussion with the boys and slap the stupid out until they get it. Maybe the coaches need to carry paddles with the phrase "The Beatings Will Continue Until Morale Improves" or something (and use them liberally). They're playing like 5 year olds out there a lot of the time. One bright spot (ONE) was in faceoffs (other than Connor and Ryan). Take care all.

  18. Getting Saros isn't gonna make a difference this team is just too soft mentally

  19. There is no way McDavid is 100% healthy.
Watched the game last night and he just wasn't doing McDavidy things.

  20. Bro we shuda challenged the oilers second goal buddy literally took demkos leg out we smoked y’all your team reminds me of us las couple seasons you guys play 1 good period maybe and 2 shitty periods never put a game together

  21. Won first overall in my fantasy league and drafted mcdavid.. he needs to step it upp

  22. Oilers 2nd goal should not have counted. McDavid playing 27 mins a night is killing them. Roll your lines trust your team. Oilers will get out of this. 1.McDavid needs to add an element to throw teams off. He has the puck at his blueline, i can tell you his plan.
    2. Defense needs to stay home. Leaving the slot open.
    3. Quit shooting as much. I went through 20 shots that should have not been made. Canucks don't pass the puck to the goalie.

  23. You have to fire the coaching staff. There is no other way. Hope someone comes in and calms them down. Whatever this staff did in the off season with systems…it ain’t working. It’s a disaster and they have to pay the price.

  24. Was at the game last night Demko weathered the storm and you knew the first Canucks goal it was over for the Oilers.

  25. The look on your face at the beginning of the vid explains everything that’s so brutal with the Oilers

  26. Skinner needs to save some of those, but the team needs to score more than 2 also. Like Koskinen, Skinner can't score goals.

The scary part for the Oilers is, the Sharks will probably see that upcoming game as their chance to finally get a win. So their effort will probably be better than lately. Oilers really should win that one though. The Sharks are beyond bad.

Saros for Campbell, that would probably cost about 10 first round picks as a kicker. If they lose to the Sharks and the tending is shoddy, then it's time to give someone from the Condors a shot at the net.

Who do you want to see in net against the Sharks btw, Campbell or Skinner?

Edit: Seems they are swapping Campbell for Pickard. Does that mean Pickard starts against the Sharks? Maybe an attempt to start with a win for a new goalie, and see if that can be a platform?

  27. Some facts of Life that relate to decisions:

Facts: 1) Who played in net after Skinner’s poor performance in the playoffs and who decided to leave Skinner in goal after he looked like an inexperienced playoff performer? Answer: Not only did Jack Campbell replace Skinner, he had upwards of a 950 save percentage compared to Skinner allowing 3-4 goals consistently. Fact: in 90 seconds , Skinner was in goal game 6 (at a critical time in the game-a turning point in the series, Jack Campbell sitting on the bench, while a coach makes a poor decision riding Skinner(an inexperienced goaltender along with an inexperienced head coach in the National Hockey League); possibly denying an Oiler Organization competing for a Stanley Cup! Leon is left emotionally distraught as he was playing the best hockey of his career. Connor has to be Connor, the captain that keeps his composure and like Gretzky must appear politically correct and diplomatic in front of the media vultures who add pressure to this storied franchise. Not sure if Leon or Connor will stay with this organization because of immature, inexperienced decision making.

Fact: It is obvious and clear that Phillip Broberg is a much more talented defensive player than Desharnais, Nurse (overpaid, undisciplined, underperforming and poor decision maker) limiting Ken Holland’s ability to spend more money on another Mattias Ekholm type defender. Desharnais sucked in the playoffs, costing the Oilers, just like he sucked yesterday scoring into his own net at a critical time in the game. Woodcroft seems to be favouring players he knows.

Woodcroft is well spoken, however he is not yet established as a head coach, he’s better at assisting coaches (the facts are that is where he has experience).

    Opinion: It’s Skinner that should be in Bakersfield, along with Woodcroft; the problem with this scenario is finding the right coach for the Oilers (a coach with lot’s of NHL head coach experience that can manage elite talent, a coach with a good track record);

Here’s another fact: If Woodcroft has to boast about 100 wins, this shows he’s covering up his insecurities as a head coach and selfishly favouring. Jack Campbell. As soon as I saw Skinner in goal against a hot Vancouver club I knew immediately that we were going to lose this hockey game! After Desharnais made that error why wasn’t he benched? Broberg made an error he was benched. Oilers are having internal conflict now due to poor communication which results in errors and now have to play catch up hockey. Not only is this a recipe for failure it snowballs into self doubt and loss of confidence. Connor is not 100% like he pretends that he’s fine; he’s not fine, he’s not himself. 1st time in his career where he is not in the top 30 in scoring. A healthy McDavid has more grit, strength and less fear. He’s none of that. Evander Kane seems to be the only Oiler and Leon at times that is producing, checking, playing physical, Oiler style hockey. I was once impressed with Woodcroft, he lost me during last year’s playoffs (a year where Oilers should have been champions!

  28. It starts with decision making; head coach is a professional at providing excuses for the losses, not sure of his choices when it comes to line juggling. It’s too much experimenting; players need to play together with the same line mates to master the others tendencies, you’ll notice the Canucks do not think about where the puck is going, they know ahead of time where their line mates are, that’s called chemistry. Woodcroft is confusing his players, has to make inexperienced decisions when he has the talent on the ice, when things go wrong Woodcroft gets impulsive, it’s obvious now he doesn’t trust his personnel, sooner or later, an hopefully sooner than later he figures out to use the KISS principle, to keep it simple stupid!
