It obviously hurts us that Soucy is injured, but it’s nice actually having the organizational depth now where we can call up somebody like Hirose to replace him and not feel concern.

Im guessing that Hirose (waiver ineligible) is a clue that Soucy isn’t out long term.
If it was going to be a longer term injury, I suspect we would have seen Wolanin get the call. Maybe Matt Irwin.

Excellent. Love his play.

It’s interesting (*not wrong*) that they prefer recalling Hirose over Wolanin. One player leads AHL defenseman in scoring, and the other has been held pointless through 10 games.
In one sense it puts AHL and minor league scoring into perspective. After a certain point the totals don’t matter – if you’re not going to be a scorer in the NHL then it doesn’t matter how much you score in the AHL.
It also puts the two players’s development into perspective. It’s cool that Hirose has *something* Wolanin doesn’t have. You would think it would be easier for Wolanin to round out his game for the NHL than it is for Hirose. It says something great about Hirose, or not so great about Wolanin, that Hirose keeps getting these recalls.

Happy for him. I think his future could be bright and he’s gotta get more nhl experience. Cautiously optimistic.

Gonna be interesting to see how our PK does now. Soucy is great on the PK. Don’t think that’ll be Hirose’s strong suit although I’m also not sure about that.

Any word on soucy?

This is where Hirose will stick for the rest of the season.

I think they should address the D depth, now. Nothing against Hirose, but if we go down another its gonna be trouble.

We’ll know more from Tocchet after practice, but this seems to confirm Soucy is out.
Paterson [reports](https://x.com/patersonjeff/status/1724506410418151821?s=46&t=7fabqgtgp69dNA1d51vxFw) Soucy is not on the ice at practice
