I’ve been to all the Flames @ MTL games since moving here in 2018. Feels good to finally get a win. Fun game!
I think the Flames being “open for business” are likely premature, but I wouldn’t be surprised if the groundwork for potential trades is being laid. In the next 5 games the Flames face the Canucks, Islanders, Predators, Kraken, and Stars. If there record was 3-0-2 or better, I would expect no big moves to happen; but the further they fall below that the more likely a trade is.
Random thought, what happened to Sarge? I miss his wake up calls
Expected Goals Against for Markstrom was 3.55 and he let in one.
Expect Goals Against for Montembeault was 2.225 and he let in two.
The final score could easily have been 4 – 2 for Montreal if Markstrom had not stood on his head all game.
Huberdeau blocked one shot, had one missed shot and spent two minutes in the penalty box.
As I’ve said before, this is a 2 – 3 goal per game team in a league where many teams score 3 – 4 a night. We need to focus on defense and hope our goalies overperform.
Last night, our goalie overperformed and we won but don’t mistake that for our team turning the page.
I’m not even happy when we win. I just feel numb at this point. Would much rather we fuck off with the renovation word and commit to a full rebuild.

It is painful watching a ten million dollar plug. Low hockey iq and timid, fragile play. Imagine being shown up by rookies who weren’t supposed to be ready for the nhl.
I am in the boat that lines need to stay the same for a while. But I do want to see these at some point.
