Other than the overpaid core FOUR … the Leafs are a complete mess. Bottom 6 are a disaster … D core is not NHL calibre … bargain basement goaltending … a glorified AHL head coach who just randomly presses buttons. What a disaster!!!
Ya, i agree. Why would we ask a lot from players who are the NHL level, who have been playing the game for 20 plus years most of them – to play at their best game in and game out. Why would we expect that. Boston does, yet we don't expect it.
I still say the top four players are way overpaid for nothing. I could see it if we went deep into the playoffs but they have done nothing in the post season to warrant these outrageous contracts. The leafs should have used that money for defense and goaltending that they have been lacking for years.
Woll has to make specular saves all the time because the leafs d decide to be offensive defenseman and get caught all the time. Play your position and it will get better because since Woll be in net for the Leafs he had to stand on his head for a chance of win. Look at last playoffs he was making in slot saves for majority of shots taking. Doesn't help the D is putting pucks in their own net as goaltender myself if you can't block the puck get out of the way because the worst feeling as a goalie is to let a goal in you didn't see or deflect by teammate when your set for the shot.
Well, I guess I can root for the Canucks!! It’s just too bad that they can’t make it to the Western Conference finals without going through Vegas. Colorado or Dallas has it easier against each other.
Unfair to Woll?? If he was a true future #1 superstar he would steal them a game when they play bad. When was the last time a Leaf’s goalie stole a game? We need a “true” franchise superstar goalie that we can ride for 10 years. No more hopefuls, has beens, or guys who need to regain their mojo. ENOUGH. Pay for a superstar goalie, trade for a superstar goalie or draft a true star like they did with Rask except keep him this time. It’s so frustrating.

This take on the goalies fails when you look at all the softies they've let in. Yes the defense is garbage, but the goalie has to be able to make simple positional saves on a consistent basis.

I don't know what's going on but 14/32 teams have negative goal differentials? It's not just the Leafs.

Hopefully Martin Jones will get call play for the Leafs soon, he was a 27-13-3 with Seattle Kraken last season
