GAME RECAP: Penguins vs. Devils (11.16.23) | Rust Nets Two For the Pens

Thursday night the Pittsburgh Penguins took on the New Jersey Devils for their Hockey Fights Cancer game. Bryan Rust started off the scoring with a shot on the rush. Ripping it past the Devils goaltender to start the scoring. Before the 1st was over, Curtis Lazar tied the game. Rust started the 2nd period with his second of the game. Karlsson threw the puck to the front of the net, through Jake Guentzel’s legs, and onto Rust’s stick for the tip-in. That lead was not long held. New Jersey evened the score once again 30 seconds later. The 2nd period ended once again tied, 2-2. The ice was then tilted for the Devils. Scoring three unanswered goals in the 3rd, the Devils gained the lead and kept it for the remainder of the game. The match ended 5-2 for the Devils.

  1. Tough game but you expect this from a old team against a young team. Devils were quick to the puck yet I feel a 5-2 scoreline doesnt reflect our efforts tonight. We just had a 5 game win streak, put this one behind and prepare for the next one.

  2. the coin has flipped. instead of shutout jarry, tonight we get swiss cheese jarry. be nice if the team had a more consistent goalie that wasn't so hot and cold.

  3. How does this team, with three, arguably four future HoFers, look so anemic on the PP. There is no reason why you keep that unit on the ice after giving the puck up like they did after the first bad turnover on the PP.
