Absolutely ridiculous, sick footage!

Did….did the goalie duck and dodge that shot, or is this a weird angle?

Man this sport is so god damn fast. The reaction times from all these athletes border on super human. I wonder what the old heads think about this new style of game. Like a caveman watching us with phones in our pockets.

I hate Rob Blake.

Folks in here acting like they wouldn’t duck at someone baseball bat swinging a stick in their face. I get that he is a high paid goalie and should be able to deal with that. But with how fast that was moving, that was more a good shot than his fault. Go ass

A professional athlete swinging a wooden stick at face level like a baseball bat like 3 feet in front of someone’s face is enough to make literally almost anyone flinch, including other professional athletes.
They’re still humans, and they still have involuntary reactions to perceived dangers that are literally there to protect us. While they can train to suppress them, Reimer was just tracking the puck, and probably the last thing he expected to see was someone about to murder him with a baseball bat. Obviously that’s not what was really happening, but the brain doesn’t handle these kinds of high stakes ‘holy sht im in great danger’ situations very well, which is what reflexes are for. They don’t care if you’re getting paid millions and them firing loses you a game, they want to keep you alive. It’s just evolution.
Actually a pretty neat example of how our biology has adapted and optimized itself to best ensure its survival. Great play, bad break for James. I still miss him down here.

Feel bad for Reimer, you know that was just an instinctive reaction. Since it was an extremely uncommon shot style his brain told him he was being attacked.

Unreal. That’s the kinda shot dudes try in practice while they’re goofing around, amazing that he pulled it off.

Wings fan, and I’ll give Reimer a pass here. It was instinct for him to duck a stick swung head-high. He had a piss-poor forst period but then played great hockey for 2.5 periods.
