Although I was a kid…you just knew something eas brewing.
This was the start of EVERYTHING that we had in the last 18 years or so. The Malik goal, intro to Hank, Jagr going crazy that season, rookie sensation Petr Prucha, Bobby Granger, playoffs after a long drought.
This goal really felt good at the time cause it felt like change was finally here. Love this post, this goal, and being a fan of this team (even if it makes me miserable)

I was at that game with my brother and we both just looked at each other in complete disbelief. What a great moment

I was there. Sitting a few rows up behind the WSH goalie when that happened. I still can’t fully process it 😂. Turns out my now best friend was at the game too, and he wasn’t sitting too far from where I was. We just hadn’t met yet.

Look up jason strudwicks goal that kept that shootout going, not as nice but another unlikely goal scorer.

Never will forget this moment. I was around 13 or 14 having a sleepover at my friends house, all of us Rangers fans.. We were all hunched over on the couches and went absolutely nuts when this happened. I’ll also never forget the months after that at almost every hockey practice someone would be practicing “The Malik”.. Spent countless hours in my driveway with blades on doing it too.
