Why Elias Pettersson Shoots The Puck Harder Than You

🔗 In this video we dive into why Elias Pettersson at 6’1, 176lbs is shooting the puck harder than you do. We talk about the Slingshot Shooting System and some major NHL standards that these top shooters have to score goals like they do. Currently leading the NHL in scoring with 25 points in 14 games we had to take a deeper look into what makes Pettersson so special.

🚀 We dive into the mechanical standards that allow Pettersson to surpass even the toughest competition, like Zdeno Chara. Despite having 45 pounds less muscle and being seven inches shorter, Pettersson’s shot is a force to be reckoned with.

🔧 Mastering Mechanics: Learn the three crucial mechanics that contribute to Pettersson’s powerful and accurate shot. Discover how he initiates rotation from the hips, seamlessly translating it through the shoulders, arms, and finally, the stick.

⚙️ Harnessing the Stretch-Shortening Cycle: Uncover the science behind the body’s internal spring, known as the stretch-shortening cycle. See how Pettersson optimizes this natural mechanism to enhance the efficiency of his shot, requiring less effort for maximum impact.

🎾⛳ Racket Speed, Head Speed, and Stick Flex: Explore the parallels between sports like tennis and golf, understanding how rotational forces create disproportionate power. Witness how stick flex, combined with the body’s mechanics, results in incredible velocity at the puck’s point of contact.

🏒 Slingshot Shooting System: Pettersson takes advantage of an NHL-standard puck-handling mechanic, creating a slingshot effect. Want to master this technique and more? 1. Fantastic video that really highlights the importance of mechanics | When first getting into ice hockey a few years ago in my mid-30s at 190lb / 6'2" , it was baffling to see 12 and 13yr old kids somehow ripping shots harder than me. Wasn't too long until I learned that mechanics and timing are absolutely critical. Jason said it correctly… it's not an easy, quick road, but once you unlock the right process, it is incredibly rewarding and the results speak for themselves.

  2. I’ve found using your stick as a lever and shooting with your hands away from your body a really fast sweep, and Jason I’ve found you look at the pros in a game when they are attacking round the net they disappear moving into space but constantly moving
I like the sling shot system with full rotation love it Jason
    Great 😌😊

  3. this reminds me of Josh Donaldson, he uses effortless swinging which means it doesn't take alot out of him he just uses rotation and the elastic mechanic
