Tommy Smith was as hard as they come. After he retired, his knees were shot so he had to go on disability benefits. Anyway, he agreed to attend a charity event and took a penalty. Someone grassed him up to the DHSS and his benefits got stopped. Hardest player I ever saw was Dave Mackay of Tottenham. Hell of a good footballer but if the opposition wanted to play rough, he'd chew them up.
Saw Billy Whitehurst many times playing for Hull City in the eighties. We had a great little winger called Brian Marwood and if any opposition player tried to kick him you would feel sorry for him as you knew Big Billy was going to kick him off the park at some point.
There’s also the hard players that no one would mess with….Paul McGrath was a beast. Keane never went in on hard players but if he ever got fouled he’d get straight up so I give him respect for that.
Bremner was brave as a lion, but not the hardest. Tommy Smith should be on this list. Keane should have been banned for life for trying to end a fellow professionals career.
A little Italian gentleman by the name of Claudio Gentile may have been the most skillful dirty player of all time he never was sent off in his long career but as an opponent said " if Claudio played on you, you didn't walk for a week " in a World Cup I watched him kick the living shit out of a young Maradona and the ref didn't even give him a yellow !
Massive omission here. .Denis Smith of Stoke ..as Ron Harris once said Denis Smith would have had Vinny Jones for breakfast .Smith once tackled Joe Jordan in the first 10 minutes..Jordan spent the next 80 minutes playing on the wing instead of centre forward
Sounness and and Vinnie Jones look like thugs, either or both of them could have ended another player's career with those tackles: that's not being hard it's crude thuggery, they should have been banned from playing the danger they posed to other players

Stuart Pearce was hard why else would he be called psycho
Mick Hartford should definitely be on the list probably at number one
Franny Benali. Not a fighter like Big Dunc but absolutely fearless, teak tough, fit AF and loved for being the man who sent Fashanu 'to the moon' https://youtube.com/watch?v=ipxbsDwVt54&si=EnSIkaIECMiOmarE
No Bryan robson??

Big Dunc …Hard as coffin Nails .Blue Legend …
No Dave MacKay, no David Webb. Keane and Souness were just nasty.
Bremner was brave as a lion, but not the hardest. Tommy Smith should be on this list. Keane should have been banned for life for trying to end a fellow professionals career.
Let's define hard. Hard means you can dish it and take it. Only dishing does not make you hard
Ferguson? Really? Not hard just Ill disciplined. Not fit to lace the boots of Souness, Keane etc. where’s Steve McMahon, Stuart Pearce?
Cráp! Dave Mackay was the hardest and made this list look like babies.
Stuart Pearce??
Just ill disciplined.
How were these hard men when they just thugs.
Tough men take on tackles and carry on
Justin fashanu was as tough as could be
Pick a goalkeeper and you’d have a full team!
no peter reid??
Wrong first two players for me were chosen 1 and 2. Souness should have been 2 and Vinnie ( the thug) Jones should have been nos1. 👍
Des walker didn't fuck about either
Where's Neymar Jnr and Jack Grealish ?
Bertie Auld
Souness was just a hacker
No Tommy smith🤔

Ince thought he was hard. No! Ferguson slammed him to the ground like he was a Rag Doll. Lol.
Lol this is bo**ocks there isnt a player alive who was harder than Roy keane and i have seen them all. in almost 80 years
Roy, Duncan, and Norman 1,2,3 😎👍
Can’t stand that scotch bastard
Benjamin Mendy
As soon as you got to Julian Dicks I lost interest. Just a shit cunt.
Van Hanegem was a beast!
How about Tommy Smith?
I don’t know who made part 1, as I haven’t seen it, but they must have been total psychopaths if Norman Hunter only made it into part 2.
Thankfully there is no place in the game nowadays for most of those players.
kenny burns saying no more
Six foot two eyes are blue.BIG JIM HOLTONS AFTER YOU……
Roy Keane was and is a mouthpiece, he ran away from Duncan Ferguson more than once.
Sounness and and Vinnie Jones look like thugs, either or both of them could have ended another player's career with those tackles: that's not being hard it's crude thuggery, they should have been banned from playing the danger they posed to other players
Billy Whitehurst only exists in a resolution of 002p.
