I was born and raised in Newark, NJ and thankfully my older brother introduced me to the Rangers in the early 90s and I became a fan. Unfortunately, I dealt with those winning Devils and in particular, Scott Stevens. I have good friends who I played high school ice hockey with and they’re big Devils fans and watched those Devils teams and not one of them talks shit about Trouba. They actually respect his style of hitting. I just think more and more the majority of the people you screen shotted never watched Stevens play and have no idea what hockey was like even then.

My fiancé and I sat next to two Devils’ fans last night. We asked them if they had any chants that weren’t just telling the other team they suck or if they have any gimmick other than hating the rangers.
…the answer was no.

Not gonna lie, I felt it was sorta in poor taste when the game day thread yesterday was looking for a Trouba Train hit on Hughes after his dirty hit on Lindgren, but it was nowhere close to this. It’s one thing to be looking for your team to get rough, but I didn’t see anyone actually wishing lasting harm on Hughes.
Add to that the fact that they just wanted hits on Panarin and Zibanejad because they’re just really good players and this becomes super scummy.

I love that Trouba manages to throw huge, open ice, shoulder to chest hits in the new NHL. He has single handedly made hitting cool again.
