  1. 8:36 😊 Bill belichick is a very good coach for the New York Giants…. How did you know John Madden?
How did you know he would win a ton of super bowls?

  2. I hope that someone has a long lost VHS tape of the game where Madden had to do play by play for a series while Summeral was having a coughing fit. Even the 11 year old me knew that he was out of his element.

  3. I’m a fairly new football fan, from Canada. This is only my second full season watching almost every game I can. I’m primarily a hockey fan and have been my whole life. John Madden is like Don Cherry but you football fans appreciated him more than we appreciated Don. Makes me a little sad I came up in a hockey family and didn’t get too appreciate it until recently. Football fans are unmatched. I’ll make sure my kids don’t miss out the way I did.

  4. John Madden was to the sport of Football, what Date Earnhardt Sr was to NASCAR. When they were alive and involved it was the best era of the sport. And now that they’re both gone both sports are no longer the same. And the new era of these sports without them is just not as good. Crazy how much a single man can influence an entire era of a sport to the point that once lost, completely changes the atmosphere of the sport.

  5. I read his book, bought it as soon as it hit the bookstores. It's easy to see why his band of misfits Raiders teams were so great. Then he moved to commentating football on television and taught the world the game. GOAT.

  6. He was one of the most open and honest guy who I could listen to him just tell irrelevant random shit. It's the best.

  7. I watched a game once when the filming crew did a closeup of one of the cameramen because he was retiring. John's comment was "He looks like he's got sweat coming out his eyes." Al started cracking up.

  8. Giving John Madden the ability to draw lines on live broadcast was the best decision humanity had ever made

  9. Larry Allen manhandles 3 linemen towards the end there… then immediately after it cuts to Bruce Smith tossing Allen like a child! Insane

  10. John maddden was a man beyond his time .the only way to get him to frown.is to make a bonehead move. at the line of scrimmage on 3rd and goal .

  11. Wow doi I miss John Madden. That's when NFL football was FUN to watch. Not like the bs garbage that it is today. Targeting crap, refs with their finger on the flag on every play, monkeys dancing in the end zone. Not worth watching anymore.

  12. It was 1990 and Joe Montana did a deal for a video game called "Joe Montana football" it was probably one of the best football video games on the market. Then in 1991 EA sports releases John Madden Football which was an awesome game to rival the Joe Montana game. Funny was the first 2 years of John Madden football the game publishers didn't get the NFL License so they had to use city names and Jersy numbers as a work around for not having the license so it would be #16 from Sanfrancisco or #34 for the 85 Chicago team. There was no mention of team names or player names. Before Madden and Joe Montana football games I used to dream as a little boy that I could have some system by which I could draw up plays, I even drew up my own plays in a notebook because I was so passionate about offensive coordination. So it was mind blowing when Madden football debuted. The madden game was the most realistic or true to the real game out there. RIP Legend JM. Anyone who truly knows football knows what a football "god" John was.

  13. Madden and Summerall were horrible. I watched a game once and they spent 5 minutes talking about some restaurant. Totally missed a touchdown. They thought the team was lining up for a FG attempt. When the game went to commercial and showed the score as 7-0, one of the clowns said that obviously that was a mistake and the score will be corrected during the tv timeout.

  14. Pat and John were a part of my childhood. Even now when I’m watching a game, I’m narrating it in my head in Pat’s voice. Both were iconic.
