NHL Insiders Kevin Weekes and Elliotte Friedman have been tweeting out & discussing on their podcasts the costs of what it may take to acquire Calgary Flames Defenseman Nikita Zadorov and Chris Tanev. The teams said to be still in on these Defenseman are the Toronto Maple Leafs, NJ Devils, Dallas Stars, and Vancouver Canucks. Withe the cost revealed as a young player and a pick or prospect be what it takes to acquire one of these players from the Flames or will it be more since more teams are looking at bolstering their lineup before the NHL Trade Deadline.

Totally agree with you.
Hot take but trade Dougie for any top 4 bruiser. Sure, 70+ pts but we don't need that. With Luke and possibly Nemec, there's no reason to pay an offensive D man 9 million. The fact hes the highest paid player on the team is a joke. Luke already passed him on PP1. Dougie is a Ferrari in the winter. Sure it's flashy and fun but will be much more of a problem than it's worth. He's a liability and his contract is absurd. Let him go to a team that needs weapons. Pay 50% of his contract and bring on someone who can actually play the blue, not be a traffic cone.
Devs need Zadorov desperately. We have a surplus of defensemen as it is tho, could possibly see marino go the other way.
NJ needs grit and toughness, no doubt (and stronger 'tending). I think they see either of these guys as just rentals, especially with Nemec coming next year…(unless they think Bahl isn't part of the long-term picture – but I doubt that's the sentiment. Also depends on which CGY guy with one being LD, the other RD).

Agree grit is needed, not sure who I am willing to give up to get it 😮 Fitzgerald will make the necessary move and I trust him to do the best thing 😢 is calling Nemec an impossibility
Yeah, need somebody mean on the team. Id hope it could rub off on some of the other D
The only way NJ can go after these guys is if they add a gritty forward as well it will get more chippy and more fights
Graves' presence no longer on this team seems to be showing in places. He was 3rd in hits among our d-man and 1st in blocked shots last year. Zadorov would definitely benefit in grit and delivering hits. Unfortunately, not much of a shot-blocker. Dream scenario, wish we could get Adam Larsson back. Would also love to give Nemec a shot, although we just got Miller back and have 3 right handed d-man (Happy to see him playing).
