Starting out, yes, but when they moved him to SAM, no. Finally he got the majority of snaps at Mike in the raiders game, so it's a yes again
The play that he was fined for he was tripped by the opposing teams lineman. The NFL knew that it was clear on replay yet they find him anyways unbelievable.
Another great video. Thank you.
Coach brings the best breakdowns
It's a shame we couldn't make any moves before the deadline to fix the D issues. Can't ask for everything I suppose, patience is a virtue for sure.
Great video. Hopefully the Lions move him back where he clearly belongs. I wouldnt count him out of OLB for the future- maybe he can get it with a little work at it during the offseason
I still wonder if his shift to Mike was due to coaches not wanting to take him off the field, or was Barnes declining in his Mike play? I know he had to play a lot outside due to injuries, but, before that, Barnes was getting the start. Will they be asking Barnes to play more outside, or has he been downgraded to backup due to Jack's play?🤔
Really good breakdown on strengths and weaknesses of Jack Campbell.
Really good insight to see where he is at now and why we saw his "dip" at certain points in the season. He is doing what they are asking him to do. He is a rookie and looks to be at almost 100% nfl speed, read and act.
Do you feel like Branch’s ankle injury he suffered against the Packers is still effecting him? I haven’t seen the same player I saw the 1st 4 weeks that I’m seeing since he’s came back from that injury
He is a North South LB not fast enough side to side. He was drafted to stop the run and it worked. Lions need to draft or sign a FA fast OLB to cover TE and slot WR. Lions are week covering both that is the weakness of the D. See Ravens game exposes that.
I do think the Lions messed this up. It felt to me like they were trying to reward Barnes for his hard work and improvement much more than put the players in their best positions to succeed. Barnes would have been much better on the LoS. Hes stronger and has experience (college) playing edge. Campbell is much more effective in the middle of the field and off ball. Even as a rookie hes better in coverage than Barnes (who has improved). The roles (Barnes and Campbell) should have been inverted. By the end of the year well be talking about him as one of the best defensive rookies.
Absolutely outstanding I can't put into words how informative, detailed and professional your body of work is
Doing tasks you're not naturally good at is part of on-the-job training in any field. Won't hurt him. Barring injuries, I think Campbell will show rapid progress in the second half of the season. Lots of games to play.
Great video
I'm really liking Campbell and his developement because he can get downhill and impact guards who can't move him in the run game. I'd like to see AG use him like MacDonald uses Queen in ways where he attacks the LOS as a 5th rusher from 2nd level to free up a DL stunting behind. Ravens did this last game and it freed up their DTs. I think Campbells size allows him to take 2 Lineman with him and free up someone twisting around. This is the next phase for this defense.
They need to keep playing Campbell off ball this guy is way too big and it impacts throws over the middle. The QBs have a bitch of a time trying to get the ball over him in the middle. He's like a moving tree roaming the middle.
Love your work keep it going.
I'm so excited about Campbell can't wait to see him as you said with more reps because he's only going to get better and better.
Just more proof the that the front office is drafting the right players, by far lions had best draft class.
Great video! Thanks for the many hours you put into this. I agree pretty much completely, though I am far for an expert. Case in point: what's the signal he gives to Hutchinson, that Hutch acknowledges, on the play vs. Green Bay at about 17:30?
Nice breakdown. On the Anzalone blitz/sack, I think he was playing the sticks and the expected hot across the middle.
If it was thrown he was in position to make the tackle short of the sticks
I’m so hopeful with what he will become. Chris Spielman is my all time favorite Lion and I’m ready for a new GridIron Hero.
Appreciate the vid. He's starting to be viewed as a bust/underwhelming that is not getting scrutinized due to the lions winning.
I'm glad it's more that we're asking him to do things he isn't used to.
I've started to pay attention to him during the game and I have been pretty happy with him. I'm a bit disappointed he has not been a bit more of a game wrecker, but he's got all the traits and seems to be putting in the work, so I'm sure he will have a coming out party soon enough.
the Lions don't want to take Barnes off the field… have not studied enough tape to see if that is justified, but would like to see more #46 in the middle!!!
Awesome break down. Thanks for sharing All 22. Tho I’m not sure whether it was AG or Dan Cambell, one of them had said they wanted him to develop his pass rushing. Injuries are definitely a factor but I think they’re trying to tap into every ounce of his potential
Look for Chargers Kenneth Murray #9 to do the opposite of Campbell in week 11's game.
Aaron Glenn has not used him correctly at all. Ive wanted AG gone since last year. Too much defensive talent on this team to be squandered like they have been.
Campbell at edge is an interesting experiment to me. Confusing but interesting. The coaches have explained it as all three of Anzalone, Barnes and Campbell are playing so well that they want to get them all on the field. I’m just confused why you wouldn’t use Barnes in that spot because he played as an edge defender in college. And beyond that depth at that position has been low because Julian Okwara and James Houston have missed a ton of time, which is why I thought they might pursue an outside linebacker type at the deadline. I appreciate this breakdown because I knew he was playing well but man his recognition is something. Thank you for the consistently awesome content!
Im hoping we use his at his natural position once James Houston returns in december to take those outside rushing reps
