A race like this tells you what bike manufacturer has it going on under the hood. As it is, my bet would be that these guys have already figured out their gear ratios for best top end. I used to race an all sand track called Spillway Park in Santa Maria, California. To get it right requires that you hang your ass off the back end like a monkey climbed onto yours. The winner is usually the one in the best shape who can keep it pinned the longest. Kellett reminds of a guy that used to race with Steve McQueen, by the name of Malcolm Smith. That guy was pure magic on a 450 Husky.
I watched a video of tire development on dirt bikes and when they go this fast there isn't enough weight on the rear tire to make any traction and the rear tires just spin. That's why you see the front guys speed up or fall back over and over. Trying to get the rear tire down into the ground. Fascinating to watch.
