Is this season already lost for the Oilers?

TSN Hockey analyst Dave Poulin joins SC with Jay Onrait to discuss the Oilers continued struggles against Florida on Monday night, if David Pastrnak’s deal is a good comparable for William Nylander and what Nylander’s contract might cost, and whether benching a player is impactful given what’s going on with Patrik Laine in Columbus.

  1. With the morons running the organization… I’d say yeah we’re pretty much done…

  2. Just admit that their season is dead They have no defence no depth scoring along with no goaltending or money and if I’m any other team in the NHL I know they have Connor and Leon I’m not gonna trade them anything to get them out of the slump or make them any better I got 31 other teams to pick from.

  3. Those goals were ABYSMAL defense, I find it hard to believe that any goalie in the world could succeed in EDM right now because their defense play has been so bad, they give up quality chances, don’t clear away rebounds, allow players to shoot from great areas, and it’s a constant issue

  4. They can go into full retard mode after Christmas and grip a spot in the playoffs ,, gotta make a move or two for a tender and top ruff d man and floss mcdavos Bologna hole to get him happy

  5. Flames will always be the better Alberta team, Edmonton literally has to be shit to be good, how many more first round picks till this team gets a cup? Gretzky playing in a mediocre era where an average fourth liner can be just as successful, oilers will always be dogshit.

  6. Ken Holland is a joke! What a waste of talent. Let's hope McDavid can get the heck out of that dumpster fire 🔥.

  7. Poor coaching again they are a top-heavy team. Coach keeps playing his horses as the rest of the team freezes up on the bench watching. I think McDavid had a six minute shift in tonight‘s game along with Leon. He’s going to lose the room guys get pissed off sitting on the bench watching the entire game, Kane played 13 minutes i think I believe Leon and Connor were over 25 minutes tonight Take a look at the Nashville game tonight that’s coaching. Scoring two goals in the last minute to win 4-3 incredible hockey They played all their lines invested in these players take a look and see who scored the winning goal. I don’t even recognize his name wake up coaching staff build your second third and fourth line or you’re finished I’m sure McDavid would tell you that, you watch Leon and Connor go to the bench almost looking embarrassed as their teammates grow icicles under their feet they go clean their visor and get right back onto the ice McDavid and Leon may have left the ice twice in the last 10 minutes. How are you supposed to win a hockey game? No I in team coaches fault they don’t know how to handle super stars

  8. They will make the playoffs, everyone relax!!! They have the best 2 players in the world!!

  9. Season? Don't you mean ERA??!

    It's the BEDARD era now.

Really, what are the soilers gonna do? The time to do anything, was last summer. They could've (should've) traded away Bouchard for better assets, but instead inked the bum for a couple of years. Now, the entire league sees how useless the prick is on defence. How are they supposed to trade for anyone competent? They could've resolved the Campbell situation, but instead chose to gamble on him 'bouncing back.' what DO they have to trade? Outside of a few picks made in the top 10, almost every single other draft pick has been a bust or they've had to give away for NOTHING. Their drafting and 'development' of players has been absolutely ABYSMAL, and IMHO, has been the catalyst that has sunk these losers.

  10. I guess this is what was said about the St. Louis Blues in the 2018/19 season, before they brought Jordan Binnington on board. He took that team to the Cup and won it. I will also say that I think Ryan O' Riley is one hell of a player, but the Conn Smythe should have gone to Binnington. One of the worst selections I have ever seen. Maybe their is a miracle somewhere for the Oilers. It's a good thing personality didn't figurer in the 94/95 Cup, or the Great Claude Lemieux would not have received his rightfully earned Conn Smythe.

  11. The oil is in trouble. It may be early in the season but when you fall behind to this extent it becomes an up hill battle that can be overwhelming.

  12. Let's hope Draisaitl will not sign a new contract and McDavid leave aswell. Whithout them they are bottom 5 team in NHL. Colombus have more points than Edmonton have they have 0-7-2 last 9 games 🤣

  13. Goals 2,4 and 5…6:21 and 6:27 of the 2nd period in partucular…EVERY NIGHT THE SAME GUY!!!….Seattle, Tampa, Today. …ALL SEASON LONG….EVAN BOUCHARD IS COSTING THIS TEAM GAMES…PERIOD. He is Utterly USELESS defending. They can demote goalies and fire coaches all they want. As long as that turn over machine sits on that Blue line 20 minutes a night they are doomed to mediocrity. They either make him a forward or trade him……OR…..This BOUCHARD Circus Clown Show will just continue.

  14. Carolina Canes dropped Halak from a PTO recently.
Perhaps an Edmonton Oilers deep look into Halak may be worth it.

  15. Do I see the Oilers' season done? I see the odds against an Oilers' playoff appearance as worse than 4-to-1 (more like near 7-to-1 at this point).

  16. Pichard should have been first star. He made 3-5 saves that Skinner and Campbell typically don't save. His lateral movement is 5X the other two guys. But yes, obviously they still need another goaltender (unless Capt Pickard turns out to be the next Fuhr/Roy).

  17. McDavid has way too much input into how the team is run. First they hire his agent to be the GM. Then fire a sound defensive minded coach because thr zone system required McPowerplay and Drai to actually be responsible defensivly.

The system put in jeapordy his Art Ross trophy since the defensive required by him would effect his point totals.
So now they are back to their no defense pewi hockey shootout days. 😂

  18. It is still early in the season. The Blues were in last place in January but ended up winning the Cup. So the Oilers are in a good place.😊
