I can already predict that half the sub is gonna lose their mind from the answer of the second question.
Relax, take a chill pill.

Well, he’s right in a sense that the oilers are last with mcdavid.
But we will never make playoff if we dont have atleast a ppg player.
And maybe it’s because in my lifetime habs fan except kovalev i’ve never seen a star player (except Price) It would be fun to have one even if we are losing lol.

But atleast Hughes have a plan and I’m all in for a long rebuild (long over due) So i still have faith in him

I think Hughes is a pretty reasonable person. Some will lose their mind at his answer because they trick themselves into believing Hughes or the org doesn’t think talent matters. However, it seems to me Hughes simply believes that you have to target your star well. They have to fit with your team’s culture, they have to be able to handle the pressure of the market, be able to fit within the cap so that we can add other supporting players around them, etc…
There’s no point getting Mcdavid or Draisailt. If it means sending away your whole team.

” The Edmonton Oilers are sitting at the bottom of the standings right now with two of the biggest stars of the NHL. It takes more than that to win. ”
That’s a bit of a weird answer, considering Habs have no star players, and are on their way to end bottom 5 for a 3rd season in a row, and there’s no significant progress either.

I agree that it takes more than stars to win, a lot of depth, a strong core, a great leadership culture and a strong winning culture are all important.

But I also believe that you actually need stars to win…

Just a reminder that last year there were only 38 players who went PPG with over 40 GP. Toronto and Edmonton are the only teams who each had 4.
Fans acting like all of Suzuki, Caufield, Dach, Slaf will be PPG players are really overrating them. We’ll be likely if even 1 becomes a regular PPG player.
