In this edition of Locked on Capitals Dan talks about the Caps most recent victory. Tonight, it was over the reigning Stanley Cup winning Golden Knights. WSH has won 3 in a row and is 7-1-1 in their last 9. Charlie Lindgren played a huge role in the Capitals victory. He faced multiple breakaways Lindgren is now 3-1-0 on the sDylan Strome scores his team-leading seventh goal of the season to give the Capitals a 1-0 lead. In 16 career games vs. Vegas, Strome has recorded 13 points (5g, 8a). Last season, Strome led the Capitals with three points (0g, 3a) in two games against the Golden Knights.eason with a .947 save percentage. It wasn’t just Charlie though. mcmichael empty netter key in the defensive zone Connor McMichael scores his fourth goal of the season to give the Capitals a 2-0 lead. McMichael’s four goals are tied for the second most on Washington (Dylan Strome: 7 goals; Alex Ovechkin: 4 goals).

If Spencer Carbery doesn't win coach of the year. He should at least be nominated. What he's doing with this team is just phenomenal. He's also the perfect coach for a player like Ryan Leonard. Can't wait for that kid to join the team
I'm loving watching this team this year! This is exactly why I was so ecstatic before the season started and it's finally paying off for the team and us fans. McM is even better than I was expecting and the fourth line continues to be awesome. I believed before the season started and I still believe we have a chance at contending for a deep playoff run this year, I especially can't wait for Leonard, Miro, and LaP to join the big squad permanently!
This was a great win. Basically a 1-0 game against a strong team. While I like Kuemper as a goalie over his career I do agree they have to go with the hot goalie. The only exception I'd make is when there are back to back games. Then I can see giving Lindgren a rest and putting Darcy in for a game. There will be opportunities down the line for all goalies because it is unlikely one goalie will be hot for every game. If there is like a Roy on the roster, then I might favor him regardless how well the other goalies are playing. This is because a goalie like Roy has a proven record of carrying teams for long stretches and performing in the clutch. The Caps goalies are good right now, but not that good.
I agree about not getting complacent in victory. A team can play badly and win or great and lose. It can be deceptive. This is very tough at the professional level as the difference between victory and defeat is small and a lot of factors affect it, like injuries for one. Good practices can help with this, but in the middle of a long season, too much practicing can wear out a team. It can be a fine line.
So glad we won. What an accomplishment but at the end of the day this is just one game. I am glad that we are moving along, but we need to keep going and see what we can really do because this run is not even foundational yet. This run is going good but we need to just keep going because the rest of the teams in the league and especially in our division are not going to stop and they are not going to get worse. We have got to just keep going.
This team is playing way above my expectations. All 3 goalies are a positive in expected goals and the Caps are like 6 goals down on expected goals for 5on5. If goalies can stay solid and that offence and PP picks up this team might be unstoppable.
I never believed in Laviolette. I know he's a good coach but he just didn't suit this team.
What do we do with Oshie? I'm not sure there's anybody to replace him but he's gotta improve. I guess when Mantha comes back he's shown enough to displace him. We can't be sentimental about Cup winners. We're 6 years removed from it.
I like the goalie argument, but here’s a quick fact that comes to mind. Holtby was put in the second place and had to rightfully earn his place back but what’s important to remember is that Holtbeast has a Stanley Cup ring Grubauer does too, but not because he won those games. Holts did. Just like Kemper has a Stanley cup ring. Lingren is amazing but you have to remember some of these things. I think we should see how the next few days go and then see who we put in and not complain either way.

It’s the system that has ovie not scoring goals, him passing and not getting good setups yet. I think he’ll land between 30-40 goals cause it’s such e long season si a couple of runs and he is right up there again. Anyway. Wouldn’t surprise me if he has an amazing start next year, but heck, there are 68 games left this year. I just want to see them succeed in the playoffs.
