I wouldn’t call Lou stupid. I also don’t get why Lou gets a ton of hate. He has done a lot to turn the franchise around IMO. Possibly had over stayed his welcome bit still deserves some modicum of respect.

He’s not stupid, but he seems extremely arrogant and stubborn, and convinced that he knows better than everybody.

We’re the stupid ones for expecting something to actually happen.

Lou gave the Isles instant credibility when he arrived and his hiring of Trotz was just what we needed.

Aside from that, he has made a number of ill advised moves and contract extensions which will negatively impact the franchise for the remainder of the decade.

Thank you for your service Lou. Time for a new regime.

I think we are far beyond the time to make a change, obviously it’s not working. Having said that…

In Lou’s defense there are not a lot of quality coaches available. Woodcroft is the only one who comes to mind, MAYBE Gallant. But other than those or a candidate out of left field who is out there?

No way in HELL do I want Sutter, Babcock, or that slimy piece if shit Quenville influencing the already underachieving team.

If I was a head coach, I’d want to come in over the summer, or once the wheels had truly come off. Taking over a team that’s still three games out of a playoff spot in November seems like a recipe for disaster. You need a buffer of a few forgiven losses to implement your system. If we bring in Claude Jullian and the team gets two wins in the next ten games, all of a sudden it’s his fault we missed the playoffs. At this point, we wouldn’t be giving a new head coach a clean slate.
I think we need to dance with the one who brought us until it’s obvious that he’s lost the team, and we have no shot at the postseason.

  7. I really wonder how much of this is on Lane and how much is on the players. Look at Casey’s statements. They want him there, so if you get rid of him how does that affect the players?

Are we playing this system because of Lane or because of the players? Lane is supposed to be Trotz’s prodigy. They said Trotz’s system was getting exhausting and they wanted to open up the offense a bit. So they’re trying this out… Maybe the plan is to sneak into the playoffs then tighten up and make a run… Maybe if they want to play more open Lane isn’t the guy to make that work. Maybe Lane is getting a long leash bc Lou knows this isn’t his forte so he’s letting him learn.

There are so many questions about what’s really going on, but you know that Lou knows and he’ll make a move if he thinks he needs to. Maybe he doesn’t like any of the potential replacements. That or he’s bought into what the players want and he’s not going to do anything (but I find that hard to believe).

I just find it hard to trust a GM who signs contracts that will outlive him.
