Dude had a hip resurfacing procedure in the off season. Backstrom only played seven months after the same surgery. Hagelin had the same thing then retired shortly after. The only NHL player to come back from that surgery before Backstrom was Ed Jovanovski but he retired after that as well. Hard pass…
