  1. Hey Steve I hope you see this! I used your "old saying" during this whitetail season in Idaho. My wife was giving me the business about looking off the forest road, in case I observed a buck on our way to our hike / glassing spot. I just kept telling her, "a fresh set of eyes, gathers more beans." After the third time she angrily said where the hell did you get that? I said ol' Rinella! 😂😂😂 Thanks for the saying that annoyed my lovely spouse during our hunt!

  2. This guys getting solid diet advice from 1992😂. Good job on cutting the sugar, but eat all the red meat and butter you want brother.

  3. As a Brit, this may surprise you…. but our mainstream media is not generally a good representation of our people, hearing Brian was a hunter meant he was the only golfer i actually wanted to win… or even knew his name

  4. Well I think you answered you turkey problem, here is my suggestion that was overlooked and is what I actually do and our numbers are increasing where the rest of the state is decreasing in turkey population. Keep up the trapping of predators and take as many racoons, skunks and bobcats as possible. I know some states don't let you do the bobcats but should, so do what you can there. The hogs can and should be trapped we trapped 150+ hogs our first year and the boy-scouts were very grateful to turn them into sausage for their campouts. also maintaining a presence on the property helps deter the hogs from coming back onto your property. I am not sure your quail numbers but if you don't have any or much and they used to be there then bobcats are your main problem. My rule of thumb on bobcats is if you see one then you probably have five.

  5. So i guess fixed arrowheads are better when coming into cinract with bone? But expandable would be better in a flesh only shot? Makes sense i guess

  6. I developed a flinch as a kid that took me years to get rid of, and a big part of it was reacting to blast. Steve is 100% here.

  7. Very interested to know what key Brian goes to I’m born and raised in Marathon lobster and Stone crab fisherman. Great Ep!

  8. Shoot a real mechanical Grimm reaper will blow through rage is crap. My son draws 45lbs he shoots Grimm reapers they blow through

  9. I think Steve would be surprised by how many PGA Tour golfers hunt. In fact many have spent significant time hunting to the obvious detriment of their careers, (looking at you Boo Weekly). Steve Stricker skipped the fall season in his prime multiple times, forgoing easy prize money to go hunting instead.

In fact I would say that because of hunting and the overlap with start of the PGA Tour season, 3-4 guys a year put themselves in a hole to go hunting instead of play the fall events and get a ahead start on the season, Brian Harmon is a really good example of that actually.

So don't stop at Harmon, there's plenty more hunting golfers out there for you to interview, this is an untapped space in the golf podcasting world.

  10. Avid hunter all my life. Got into golf a couple years ago, and talk about frustrating, difficult, time consuming, and addictive. Reminds me a lot of bow hunting. Great guest!!!!!! Down to earth love to see that in that industry.

  11. This was a great episode! Brian seems like the man, I hope “the Butcher”, Steve, and Cal are on a episode soon.

  12. It might have been more fun to find Mastodon bones wrapped up in Cave Lion hide; I mean, Cave Lion bones inside a Cave Lion skin….. seems right.

  13. Man! This is the most rambling bullshit "what the fuck? what is this? was I listening to this? What is this?" OF ALL TIME… jesus dude, have a basic game plan or something.

  14. In listening to your show today I noticed the subject of cholesterol came up. Since this issues is so closely tied to meat and I think it would be interesting for you guys to do some research on the subject. You know your show is called meateater. My two cents is that the whole issue of cholesterol has been attacked by the drug industry without evidence that cholesterol is the root cause of poor heart health. The true cause of poor heart health is inflammation in the artery caused by highly processed foods full of empty carbs and sugar. The reaction of the insulin system in the body is overused processing the popular modern man's diet. This leads to insulin resistance that requires higher and higher doses of insulin and this causes inflammation in the artery where plaque buildup begins. Your good friend Joe Rogan had Dr. Aseem Malhotra on his show, and they did talk about this issue of cholesterol and how it has been made the bad element in regard to heart health. https://open.spotify.com/episode/43D9PMFx0j9BdbpcS9meBY But You could also check out people who promote carnivore diet and even Keto diets who know far more than I do on the subject of cholesterol. Just a couple of doctors who have YouTube videos on the subject of meat and cholesterol would be Dr. Shawn Baker and Dr.Ken Berry. Another good doctor on the subject is cardiologist Dr. Nadie Ali. Have Corrine check them out. There are many other doctors who fill the same way about diet and cholesterol. By the way I have listen to almost every podcast and I don't hunt and have not fished in years.

  15. Great episode guys!!! You should do a meateater episode with "The Butcher" go down and get some ducks and hogs!!

  16. We need to spread the word and do everything we can to get Tiger Woods on to talk spear fishing with Steve 🐠

  17. You're missing some quality media not videoing and sharing those kid hunts. SO MANY lessons for the adults involved. Never a dull or quiet moment, but still successes to be had… Great stuff!

  18. Don't expect any state agency to handle issues with hogs efficiently, if at all… last time I walked an area "managed" by Missouri Conservation (plenty of money and resources), it was covered in plots of Turnips "for Deer", buuuuut, imagine what that did to the hog population in the area??? Meanwhile they were also hiring professional trappers to eliminate the hogs. They don't allow, or at least don't support, or especially promote the public hunting hogs in this or other areas of these types. Depressing level of mismanagement beyond that, but the hogs thriving on food plots meant for other game we the taxpayer are affording was the clearest evidence of damaging malpractice by those "in charge"…

  19. Had the pleasure to walk (loop) a few holes at the Sony Open Pro-Am last year with Brian and talked about fishing, hunting and golf. Guy is a stud and a great American! Solid to have on the show!!
