Face it … we have guys overachieving and could help add to the young core building itself piece by piece into something much much stronger. Is montembeault the guy ? No … can he fetch us Holloway or bourgeaux? A first ? And ?

Montembault is FA a rental if he wants to play in the Motherland no problem after a stint in Edm? Whats the panic? Stats are anything you want to make of them and subject to sample size! Montembault is an 8 year journeyman G whose career SA% is below 0.90
Every game that goes by I think why would Edmonton make a trade at all with any team! They are losing ground fast.

People said Oilers will win the Cup… I said their defense and goalies suck… I was right so far. Habs have better Defense and we suck bad cuz they are young. Give Allen for a bag of pucks it doesn't matter, he's not part of the future of this team.
I didn't know much about Bourgault until watching this channel but grabbing a 6-foot center with that potential will give the team some hope for the future especially if he's not injury prone like Dach. Monty good goalie and all but they aren't building the team around him like they did with Price. Get some forward potential when you can. Most good goalies these days come from the 2nd or 3rd round. There are some good goalies coming through the drafts soon, Ruud, Cloutier. we got time.
Don't trade Monty for a 3rd line center.
Use the term "blockbuster" when Draisaitl is involved. Oilers getting blown out again tonight. They need a huge shake up. They already have to play a such a high rate to make the playoffs. Bring in a third team if needed to make everything work. Habs have to weaponize all those picks and prospects and Draisaitl is worth it. Suzuki goes to 2C and that sets them up.

Monty is good and we like him, but he’s no workhorse goaltender. Considering the Oilers salary cap, their goaltending situation and their need to win now to keep McDavid happy, we could absolutely fleece them
I just dont see why, looking at what Farrell and Roy are doing in the AHL in comparison theres nothing to be hyped about….and considering we have other centers coming up this really doesnt add up…the only other thing they can help the Oilers with is Defense but why would the Habs wanna give up any of their young D right now since we still dont know who fits where and they all have good potential…so i dunno the one that makes sense is Savard but hes still out for what 4 more weeks? Doesnt seem like the Oil can afford to wait even 1 week lol

What a mistake the habs would make to me it makes no sense
First, it would be great to keep Monty at a decent amount. I prefer two good goalies than an overPRICE one. And we can't deny that local players are important. However, if Monty wants to overprice himself than let's get a much better prospect that XB. Oilers have two excellent prospect, a big centre and a righty Dman.

Fowler is young but, damn, he is almost ready. I don't buy into goalies needing 4-5 years to develop. There is no reason a 19 or 20 year old goalie can't play in the NHL. I like Sam but we have been and currently are a bottom feeder with him. How much worse are we without him ? I remember Tokarski played so well when Price went down. It was a short run. We could have gotten a top 10 pick for him but we kept him and he underwhelmed and we got nothing for him. Coming off the World championship, Sam likely will never be worth more than right now.
I think Hughes is trying to get Monty to sign at a number he prefers and is using this as a bargaining chip 🤔

I've been saying this for days. Oilers lost again tonight. They are getting desperate. I think this deal makes sense Monty/Monahan/Wifi and our first round pick 2025 for Leon. It makes Edmonton better defensively, goaltending, and special teams. It also frees up some money for them. Habs get their left shot for top line. Everyone happy.😁
