  1. They did have a good compete level I thought, but the Stanley Cup champs were highly motivated after a bit of an embarrassing loss to Nashville, and that extra motivation to win definitely exposed some weaknesses on the Canucks who have quite a few slumping players at the moment as well as a few injuries. I knew going into the game that this was going to be a REALLY hard game for the Canucks to win… all of the signs were there. It's hard to play at that elevation at the best of times. The game WAS closer than it looked as well, after going down early in the third period the Canucks had to start taking some chances to try to get back on even terms, and that's when a highly skilled Avs team was able to seal the deal. I thought some absolutely horrific reffing made the game practically unwatchable at times, and fans of both teams were upset. I think Pettersson might have a cracked rib or something.. he's been like a zombie version of himself out there the last several games. Not sure if it's a mental thing with Demko, but he's been letting in way more softies recently as well. I thought that Makar breakaway was one he'd have easily had when he's on his game. Tough because he's been one of the best goalies I've ever seen the last few years. Ultimately, I'd like to see the Canucks take this as a bit of a wakeup call that they can't just rely on the good start they had.. they need to actually get better if they want to win these kinds of games against the top teams.

  2. Canucks are a good average team that are playing to their potential. They are not an elite team in the league. They can’t win against the good teams just yet but still entertaining to watch.
