It was a perfect litmus test of where we truly stand. We played well and still lost. We didn’t really have many grade a scoring chances and just simply got beat by a better team. I would not give us a hope in hell in a 7 game series.
Theres nothing wrong with accepting we are not as good as the Avalanche, no one expected us to be as good as we have been but seeing the standings and seeing us up there with the truly elite teams made you wonder if we truly were elite. This game gave us a better clue to where we stand.

I can’t speak for anyone else but I’m upset because Petey and therefore his line have been awful at evens and we ride or die by them being on.
This game was winnable, but we spent the majority of the game on the perimeter of the attacking zone and didn’t really get any movement in front of the net, aside from powerplay screens.
We have enough talent, but I’m still not seeing that top line play the right way.

They hung in until the wheels fell off. Was great until the 3rd

Team played well in the first two periods. Probably could’ve gotten a point if they showed up in the third.

I’m glad I didn’t check out Reddit last night, because I’m actually feeling great after last nights game. Went toe-to-toe with one of the best in the league, didn’t get any puck luck and lost. But we were in it, and we weren’t going away meekly.
I think the big deficit on this team is toughness. We need more big physical defenders to clear the front of the net. Avs had their way in front of Demko.
Also fuck Josh Manson. Dirty blind plug. Cross check a guy in the face then criticize him for reacting to eating a stick to the chops, what a fucking clown that guy is.

People are more critical of the team because for the first time in a decade it feels like there’s actual hope to see the team make the playoffs. Every loss puts us in a position where the PTSD kicks in and the realization that this team is still the same one from the past 5-6 years which means disappointment awaits.

I said this in the post-game thread too – they played well. Didn’t bury chances, PP sucked, but they outshot COL and weren’t just hanging on. They were legitimately in a back and forth game. Deserved to be in that game, and 5-2 doesn’t do it justice. They lost because the COL stars were better than ours. Georgiev was giving up a ton of rebounds and I kept wishing they would just throw more at the net and collect the garbage, but they just passed around the outside. Oh well.
