The thing about the cap…yeah next year it seems like a big hit. But as the years move on and the cap moves up (as it should) then the percentage of the cap decreases. It won't 12.6% of the cap for the remainder of the contract. With the last few years of cap stagnancy the contracts haven't looked great, but had the cap been able to move up as it should I don't think people would be complaining so much about the cap hit of any star player as the percentage of the cap itself would have decreased over time and a team would have had extra money for other contracts.
Well, Matthews, Marner, and Tavares auto-got $11mil each without having the team hum-haw over their skill and ability…
You can't just give Matthews $13mil per season and say 'oh, but there's not enough money to go around, so Nylander must take less…' Everyone knows that's bs…

If I'm William Nylander I don't settle for anything less than 13 million. The Maple Leafs are rich.
Nylander gets allergic to corners come playoff time.
It's metaverse…beyond fantasy…Trana can't afford Willy. Buh bye Willy!
Seems like a nice round number
Why should he take less than Marner. He has been more valuable than Marner over the last four years. What makes Mitch special?
given the connotation of that number I highly doubt they would go for that…….
88 million is not a fantasy. It also isn't a fantasy that Toronto will be fair to middling the next decade.
nylander going to philly next year.
fantasy, it's not debatable he isn't getting that much
