If Struble is any indication of the quality of the other mostly unknown habs defensemen prospect the logjam might reveal to be a beaver dam really quickly. The preseason and camp can only tell you so much, this was an actual game vs an NHL team playing .500 hockey and he didn’t look out of place at all.

Not the best of games but a win is a win. Defensive lapses, avoidable giveaways…this team could probably use a skating skills coach or more leg days as some of them "blow a tire" at inopportune times and most need to continue skating rather than reaching in with their sticks so much. I also wished we had an attack the net mentality rather than the flyby or staying on the perimeter. But positives…Montembeault showing why HE should be the #1 Goalie and should not be the goalie to be moved (but I guess it will come down to what he is asking for in his next contract). Really like Newhook when he uses his north-south speed and hard on forecheck, impressed with his shot (Anderson take note!) Evans had a super strong game. A good 1st NHL game for Struble. He kept things simple, showing occasional flashes of confidence joining the rush…he may be only 6 foot and not overtly physical in this game but you can tell he uses his big frame to his advantage (look out Arby, someone comin for your job!). Still unsure why MSL dislikes Ylonen so much (read he & Pezzetta played very little if at all in the 3rd period). Good start to road trip…keep it going!

Guhle was great, Newhook great, Evans and Gally were good, Monty came up huge, other than that, it was an ok game.
I agree. Strudel looked good!
