Thomas Bordeleau’s Immediate Impact On The San Jose Sharks Plus Why The Losses Don’t Really Matter

JD analyzes Thomas Bordeleau’s surprise debut on the San Jose Sharks and the immediate impact he made on Noah Gregor and Rudolfs Balcers. Then he discusses big takeaways from the Sharks in their 2-1 loss to the Dallas Stars and 5-4 overtime loss to the Minnesota Wild including Jonathan Dahlén’s improved play, Ryan Merkley’s wild weekend, and Scott Reedy, Sasha Chmelevski, and Jasper Weatherby’s audition for 2022-23. JD finishes off by looking at the standings to see where the Sharks can realistically finish the season before the NHL lottery.

  1. Beniers and Brisson didn't burn a year of their ELC (yet) nor did they ruin their ELC slide. Bordeleau was too old for the slide rule, but they did burn a year on his ELC. for a up against the cap team with multiple bad/unmovable contracts on the books that's not good management. also, Borderleau was a 2nd round pick, not a top 1st rounder. i still haven't heard anything from the Sharks front office explaining their thinking. why the goofy 1 day ATO? what was the urgency that they wouldn't just work on his ELC contract over the summer, get him in camp and let him play for the Sharks next season? i'm as excited about him as the next fan, and it's fun to watch him play NOW, but from a management perspective the Sharks have been doing some goofy shite.
