  1. Strong point! The term “superstar “ or “elite” are overused hyperbole. It’s ok to call good players exactly that.

  2. As much as I enjoyed watching Miller, and Boeser. Moving
Them should be the first priority.
To free up some cap space.
    Patrik got something for
    Motter and Hamonic.
So I'm looking forward to who's next.

  3. Superstars will dominate the ice. No Canucks dominates the ice. Seider on the other hand is a rookie and saw a couple games where he dominated. He will be a superstar. McDavid and his partner are superstars. Mathews to a lesser degree but still a superstar. He can just straight out shoot the lights out. MacKinnon also. Not many true superstars. Over used word. Lots and lots of star player only a handful of superstars. Funny you look at that old Oiler team and they had four superstars. Totally unreal. Gretz, Mess, Kurri, and Coffey some may have said Fuhr but to me he was like Minnesota Fats. When it was clutch time he came through.

  4. Canucks have a bunch of elite players but no superstar, we do have a franchise goalie in Demko though. Pettersson and Hughes are the closest things to superstar level, if they can take that next step of course.

  5. Hes right!!! Guess what you've not heard of? Either of the two doing the things that were expected when drafted. Hughes has great skating ability and above average passing. After that, nothing. Also, Petterson has been good this year, but they didnt draft him to be good. Which is why… They dont have a true 'Superstar.'

Outside of Miller, who I wouldnt label a Superstar either. He is on something this year if you ask me. Putting up career best at this stage. Only his 2nd time over 22 and this is his 9th year. Like, come on now…

  6. You aren’t understanding the Allvin qoute because you’re misreading it. There’s no “if” in that sentence as you show it written. For some reason you inserted “if” when you read it aloud.

  7. Superstars are called superstars for a reason. They're very rare, and not every team can have one. I've been saying for years that none of those guys are superstars. And Miller is just an average player having his career year. This season is a complete anomaly for him, and he'll never do it again. Whoever pays his this summer will regret it big time in a year or two.

  8. Letang isn't a superstar either. He's just lucky to play with 2 superstars. Dude gives the puck away more than JT Miller!

  9. There are few true superstars in NHL none on Canucks , Boeser has to be one of the most overrated players in the league 38 pts but maybe needs to get 7.5 million U.S. a season ? Crazy times

  10. Alvin is right in saying this team does not have THE superstar. Until Demko becomes a consistent candidate for the Vezina, Hughes for the Norris, or Petey for one of the Art Ross, Hart, or Rocket Richard trophies, they are all-star players but are not superstars.

That said, the Canucks historically are at a disadvantage for its players to garner superstar status. Henrik Sedin won a Hart, Markus Naslund won Lester Pearson, and Daniel Sedin won Art Ross, but league-wise, I don't think they are valued more than players who play in that age with less achieved. The only 100% superstar we ever had was Pavel Bure, and that is aided by his style of play.

Alvin's comments I think indicate that both Miller and Boeser are likely goners this off season. They said the team only needs a re-tooling; it is looking more like a rebuild now.

  11. Demko is a superstar, when the team was playing like the worst team ever, Demko stole the games, and That's want a superstar does.

  12. If Patrik Allvin's plan is to trade some players, he would be better off not making negative comments on these players abilities and potentials.

  13. MacKinnon Makar McDavid Draisaitl. Those are the generational players in the game today. Hughes is not that even if he would reach his full potential. He's an all-star player very similar to Sam Girard.

  14. lets play like polo wear suits and hats instaed of protective gears·its soft and not fun to watch nomore

  15. Allvin is bang on! A superstar is a player that can put a team on their back consistently, when needed and can be a difference maker when it's clutch time. We have players that will score a clutch goal at times, or steal a game in goal. We have 3-4 guys that are close to 'star' category. Go back and look at the dynasty teams; they all had a superstar, along with 4-5 stars in the lineup, and the rest were hard working Tyler Motte types. I think the template is the same, even in the cap era. This also sends a message to players and agents that they won't be paid like a superstar either. This is no longer the Benning era.

  16. Demko in my opinion is one of the best in the league. Top 5. Thats a number 1 star

  17. I’m expecting a Malkin or Letang or both as part of Canucks re-tooling next season.

  18. Psychologically it's better if we label Pettersson as NOT a super star. I feel like he is a way better player when he has something to prove and work towards. When he started becoming a social media influencer and starting his own Twitch, etc, there was a noticeable decline in his game. It's actually better when he's not on the radar.

  19. Uuummm yeah he's 100% correct. Who's the superstar on that team? They have great players but a superstar….no.
