Also, the team does not appear to be conditioned as an NHL team anymore. Everything is so sluggish. They need a bad skate like the bruins had.

  2. beaucoup_movement

Players are going to have to fight their way out of this. Blame it all on Lindy if you want but the players who we’ve all hyped up so much are playing like shit.

A lot of these guys have done mostly losing in their careers, so we’ll see if they settle back into that and have another familiar lost season or fight back.

  3. JackfruitProper

1 point from being dead last in the East and six points from the last wildcard spot. Fire the coach and try to salvage something of this dumpster fire season. If anyone thinks this team will be fine as is is blind.

  4. nostradamefrus

I need to see what bullshit Lindy pulls out in his presser. Come on, roll it

  5. scumbagstaceysEx

At least we didn’t let in four goals. So there’s that.

  6. Down_Rodeo_

They’ve given up the first goal in 15 of their 18 games played.

  7. mikefred2014

Get the Fire Lindy chants going tomorrow. If nothing else maybe it starts another winning streak like last year. Might as well try anything at this point.

  8. AISwearengen

The season is completely cooked. Absolutely kneecapped their chances of making the playoffs. What a sad disgrace.

  9. nostradamefrus

Get Smith off my TV screen, you’re more than part of our problems

    Baby Steps, Baby Steps:

    * I am no longer looking at this team like I had looked at them in the beginning of the season, so thats how this analysis is gonna go.
    * **This game was one hundred percent better than Wednesday’s game and I will use that to drive me forward.**
    * For starters, we actually showed up.
    * Each period we got better. We gave us less high danger chances. We made less defensive mistakes. We had more shots on goal and we had more offensive zone sustained pressure. We showed urgency, we showed fight, we showed battle.
    * If we could play like we did in the third for as close to sixty minutes as possible, we will be good.
    * *HOWEVER*, after a team meeting where you had serious and tough conversations, you want to see them do better from the get go. You want them to come out and go go go, and we definitely didn’t see that. Actually for the first half of the first and probably almost the entirety of the first I didnt see anything different than the Detroit game.
    * Something is very wrong. I know its individual mistakes that lead to the goals and then our goalies aren’t coming up with the big saves, but the continuity of those individual mistakes across the board is a coaching issue and not a player issue, in my opinion.
    * No one seems to be talking to each other on the ice. That first period it felt like this team had only just met like that afternoon…and not a team that has played together and even went to the playoffs together last year or played together even longer than that.
    * My patience with one Dougie Hamilton and one Jonas Siegenthaler is basically gone.
    * **Alexander Holtz**, **that is all**.
    * Akira had a good game. Akira had a great game even. The two goals against aren’t on him and he made big big saves for the rest of the game to keep us down by one.
    * We’re done playing and the Sabres game hasnt started yet. We’ll have more rested legs, even if its by mere hours, but using any advantage we get.

Another one tomorrow…joy. If the boys can take that third period and start a game like that…it would be swell.

**EDIT:** Adding the obligatory *FUCK LINDY RUFF.*

  11. The rangers learned it was a coaching issue and just look how dominant they are .I’m not a laviollette believer but change in coaches even on good teams happen

  12. JackfruitProper

The Ranger loss was the crossroads of this season. It completed deflated them. Mentally this team is not tough like last year.

  13. If Fitz doesn’t address the issue soon, he’s going into the Shero territory.

  14. gothenburgpig

Could it be worse? Yes, a guy in a Rangers jersey just sat next to me on the train

On a serious note, last year is out the window. We don’t talk about it. It’s not in our memories. Poof. So now how do we fix a team that started 7-3-1 but with some holes and then went down three star players? It probably starts with a new defensive structure, asking the dmen to hold back more.

  15. There is no future with Lindy Ruff. You either change it now or when it’s too late.

  16. chaos0xomega

The upside is that we did look like we played a slightly more defensively responsible game than we have since, I dunno, a while. The downside is that it seems clear that Lindy has lost the team and the locker room isn’t gelling the way it should be, but worse still is the 40 shots, slightly better effort, and close finish probably bought Lindy time when he should really be on a rocket out of the tri-state area like yesterday.

  17. jerrosen14

Sign Geersten to pound Connor Clifton into the ground tomorrow

  18. BurnerAccount374

Watching this team right now is absolutely joyless

  19. We need players back to make system changes … what a joke

  20. nostradamefrus

    > “What do you mean by systematic”

Something besides your half-assed attempts at hockey

    > “There’s not a lot of lineup changes to be made”

Yet your only real move is still blendering instead of exploring different schemes

    > “Smith on forward, that’s just a result of a lack of bodies?”

Incoherent answer that doesn’t explain anything

    > Refuses to elaborate further

    > Leaves

  21. jerseygunz

Here’s the thing, they lose that game after say actually winning three in a row, I’m not even that mad

  22. Training-Material155

I was on the “it’s early be patient train”. But to me that meant it’s ok to lose to true cup contenders while jack and nico were out and new defensive personnel were sorting things out. This is becoming something else entirely. The goaltending and injuries are not on Lindy. But at some point the results matter regardless. Ownership bought an NFL team. Don’t know what Lindy makes, but I’m sure paying it out as a thank you for the young player development and the Rangers series is nothing to them. however, unless the guy they really want is there, I’m not sure it makes sense to make a move for the sake of a move.

  23. buddyguy618

Losing was more fun when we’d at least score 4 goals

  24. I believe we are a good team with a bad coach. I think we can turn it around and win the Cup but I don’t think we are going to do that with Lindy.

  25. Do the right thing. I’m already a suffering Jets and Mets fan

  26. DevilJacket2000

Firing Lindy Ruff wouldn’t be a panic move. It would be the right move. Let’s all just watch a team flounder all season trying to play an unplayable system because of misplaced loyalty.

  27. Mr7three2

Wanna thank the Devils and the NY Jets for both being dogshit at the same time today so it freed up my night for other activities

  28. ghostwalken1776

Alright..so I only watched to periods of the game…but I did notice that the team is outta sync and being super fancy at times..the defense is wildly out of place at times and..well, 11-7 has hurt a forward damn near anytime Lindy has used it…at least there were 30 minutes of actual pressure playing hockey, not that it did anything, but they were trying..and honestly that’s all I’ll want..they might not be good, our goalies winning vezinas,, defense playing fucking defense, and actually finishing checks..but they fucking tried..I’d be happier if they tried to get the 1st damn goal of the game, but I’m terrified I’m asking too much

  29. Um. Well. I fucking *hate* to say this, but we got PDO’d hard. I mean the bad defensive plays by Dougie were *disastrous* and he really should be benched. But also overall we outplayed them. That’s a low bar -it’s Columbus – but I think this was honestly bad luck. We hit like five posts. Bad luck is also why we should stop losing – because it will happen even when we play well sometimes and we are making it harder for ourselves within the Metro. I hope Lazar is Ok. He’s been a lot better than Tierney.

  30. tECHOknology

I haven’t been this frustrated since the 21-22 season.

  31. SoccerLife243

We traded our 1st round pick this year, right? Lol might be a high one

  32. JamarioLune

I just want to know if all the people that cried about “wah doomers” whenever anybody brought up the bad habits of this team five games into the season are still pretending we’re going to magically start dominating because we had a good season last year?

  33. ilovehenrique14

Coming into this season, regardless of hype train or not this team was supposed to be one of the best in the league. Even with the injuries there’s no excuse for them to be this bad. Falls on the coaching not preparing these guys to be ready everynight. I mean 15/18 games allowing the first goal. That falls on coaching not getting these guys prepared for a game. It’s unacceptable and someone needs to fall on the sword. Fire Lindy.

  34. IncreaseInVerbosity

Listening to the post game interviews, you can hear Jack Hughes is absolutely fuming

  35. Werewolf_Top

My season tickets last year sold for face value.

They currently have been selling for half of face value.

Same opponents. Half the price compared to last year.

That should scare the Devils org
