The “blockbuster trade” talk..

OK Guys, it’s time to take a look at the recent trade rumors surrounding the Montréal Canadiens. Jake Allen’s name has been brought up the past, along with Cayden Primeau. But now even Samuel Montembeault’s name has been linked to the Oilers by both Elliote Friedman and Darren Dreger.. Would you trade Montembeault? Lets discuss..

  1. We keep Montembault, we give allen or primeau, but Montembault is our goalie #2 for the cup run once Jacob Fowler is ready.

  2. I just don’t think the Habs can make a deal work. I also don’t know why Edmonton’s going after goalies when they need some serious defensive upgrades to go with it. The price for Monty is way too steep and Edmonton will probably find someone else to deal with

  3. I don’t get why Edmonton would trade for any of those three. Allen cap hit way to high for what he is, Primeau isn’t proven yet and still a wild card, Monty could be a deja vu with Campbell. A career back up who has been good for a few years. Not a habs fan just think those goalies don’t help Edmonton at all.

  4. My question to you junkie is if we sell Monty for a very good price, fine. But then, what? With our injury history, if Allen or Primeau gets injured, who is our 2nd goalie?

  5. I would sign Montembeault 4-5 years, until kids develop, he’s an average #1 goalie, which is fine right now.

  6. I could see why the Habs would trade Monty, he's youngish, improving his game and would be a fairly low cap hit. Would I want to see him gone, no, but it doesn't matter what I want. I'll trust Kent Hughes decision, as he can see the bigger plan, that none of us can see.

  7. I can't see a trade for Campbell going through. He doesn't have the best numbers to warrant this kind of trade.

  8. Absolutely interested in trading Montembault if the return is going to help our offence.

Since the loss of Dach, we need a big strong forward or two IMO.

  9. I'd only give up Monty if they cough up McDavid and potentially 7 1st round draft picks, maybe throw in Draisatl too.

  10. The beauty is how desperate the Oulers are for a goalie. I would even say that his value went up Draissaitle level. If the Ouler want him, 1st roun, 2nd round and 2 juicy players. Or else enjoy the trip to failure. 😂

  11. Pound for pound, save for save…

Monty is the best goalie we have.
If they trade him I give up on the Habs…and I would question Hughes sanity.
Get rid of Allen. He's a fucking albatross

  12. No. We traded PK for some stupid woke culture thing.

Keep Sam. Your not getting anything that will be offered for a return.

  13. I don't see it.. Goalies are hard to find. Montreal finally has one worth trading and he's local. Maybe Allen but not Monty..

  14. Whats the big deal? He's a good goalie that doesnt fit our window. Are we in a rebuild or what??

Trade him and get what you can, it isn't the time to get sentimental boys!

  15. Trading SM to Edmonton could be a huge mistake. The Habs are building and Monty is a big piece of that puzzle. They don't need any of the garbage that the Oilers have on that roster and a "possible" 1st rounder in the deal isn't going to pull a rabbit out of the hat given how they might finish this season. I could be completely wrong about it all and merely going with my gut instinct. Money talks with today's game so who knows what will happen.

  16. I don't think the Oilers are interested in any goalie aside from Montembault, so I don't know why people are even suggesting other goalies, you're living in a dream. As for trading Montembault for a first to a team struggling in the standings? He's 27 and not even at a .910 save percentage and a career .897 save percentage which is sub-par. This isn't the second coming of Patrick Roy, unless we're being hampered with Skinner as part of the trade (unless they want to eat most of his deal), you take that deal all day, the overvaluing of Montembault by most other Habs fans is flat out moronic, trade partners don't care what your overinflated idea of Montembault is, they know who he is and who they'd be getting, sit down, it's like some of you guys just started watching hockey.

  17. I think Primeau is the future #1 still, and he looks good this year so far. I would include Montembeault in a deal but I'd want high draft pick or top six forward for em

  18. First off, there is nobody on the oilers current roster that MTL would want to fit in the lineup and I mean nobody….MTL doesn't need more draft capital unless they believe the oilers will give up their first round pick in 2024.

As for rookies, Xavier is not good enough to give up Monty or even Allen. They have a round 18yr old Dman from Waterloo ON with a euro name that is already 6'tall 183pds that is highly skilled. And I would trade try for a 3 way deal to send Allen to the oilers and pay 50% of his salary, use Harris and or Kovacevic , get the your Dman from the oilers, and work out details with the third team to get the Oilers first round back. If we are going to rebuild, let's not be afraid to give young NHL guys that won't even play on a playoff team to get really good prospects.

  19. Edmonton can have their pick of Allen and Monty (prefer they take Allen, even though he is a home town boy), however, if they want us to take their Jack Campbell problem off their hands for them, then it is going to cost them 2 non protected first round picks, and Draisaitl

  20. Not interested in Edmonton's prospects, but Bouchard or the 1st would both be great.
If Edmonton wants to dump Campbell to Montreal, one of those has to be the centrepiece of the deal.
If they just want one of the goalies, a 2nd + a 3rd or something like that would be fine.
