Avs, Jets, Stars probably top 3 locks in the Central; Golden Knights, Kings and Canucks in the Pacific. Not including us, the 2 wild card spots will come down to Blues, Preds, Flames, Kraken and Minny (if they can right the ship). If we can start to put up some wins and get on a roll, I think we can beat out those teams to make the playoffs — none of them look super impressive. Still have to repeat this kind of performance many times in the immediate future, but there might be some hope.

At the end of the 1st period Edmonton had scored twice. Ovi took a penalty at the end of the 1st. Oilers had outshot Washington 21 to 6 with 8 hits to 12, 12 faceoffs won to 4, 4 giveaways each, 2 takeaways for the Oilers and the Oilers had ZERO blocked shots (on 6 SOG by Washington) vs 6 by Washington (again on 21 shots). The Nuge goal was one of patience for him to bat the puck out of the air into the net (WITHOUT high sticking). With 11:32 left in the game it was 5-0 with the Oilers getting 3 consecutive Power Play Goals (Leon with 2). Team is clicking as is the PP (and the PK, Capitals are 0/4 on the PP so far). When the game ended the Oilers won 5-0 with ZERO scoring in the 3rd period (though the Oilers gave up 2 more penalties, the PK kept the sheet clean).
