In this edition of Locked on Capitals Dan talks about the Capitals as they keep rolling and winning multiple game. The Capitals are now 8-1-1 in their last 10. How are they getting it done? The bottom 6 has been the most productive. Charlie Lindgren has really been dialed in. Charlie made 33 saves on 36 shots, and he’s now 4-0-0 with a .954 save percentage over his last four starts. Hendrix LaPierre had a great game. Hendrix Lapierre recorded his first career NHL assist on Milano’s game-tying goal. Lapierre, the Capitals’ first-round choice (22nd overall) in the 2020 NHL Draft, has registered two points (1g, 1a) in 11 career games with Washington. Alex Ovechkin is finding his scoring groove. He has three goals in his last three games after starting the season with two in 12 five goals in 15 games, putting him on trac for 27 this season.

Dan, I’m just as thrilled as you are about the youth movement. I don’t think we could’ve predicted how well they’re playing right now! Is it possible the Caps won’t have to go through a prolonged rebuild, where the level of play drops into the cellar? I guess it’s still possible, but it’s looking less probable. Go Caps!
Really impressed with Malenstyn..he reminds me of Brooks Laich, but he may be better than Brooks.
I think several things put Alex in a “funk” to start the season-his father’s passing, not making the playoffs, and all the rebuild talk, Backstrom’s uncertainty, changes in the coaching staff, etc…
Things are “settling” now..and Alex is finding his way just like everyone else on the team.

Coaches need to let the prospects make mistakes without the threat of being sent to Hershey.
They’re mostly kids trying to mold their brains to take the pressure of media and etc…without flinching.
They need to block all the social media and have fun and play hockey!!
The capitals look good at net…
Defense is ok if the stay confident that the offense will carry some of the load.
The offense has been the problem.
That’s not ovechkin.
He can’t be expected to lead the team in goals for 20 years and then take the criticism when not.
Strome and others are stepping up but it’s a slow process getting the offense ramped up.
Miroshnichenko, Leonard, cristal…
will make a huge difference!

Agree with you Dan, I’m near-unreasonably hyped about this team. Spencer is doing a great job and the current streak is powered by the young guys.
Watch out if Oshie gets it going and Wilson/Ovi/Kuzy really heat up!
