First game back and Nico is literally everywhere on the ice making an impact like he never left. You love to see it.
Also really nice to see how well Holtz and Luke have come into their own now. Holtz had one play at the end of his shift in the third where he made a quick steal of the puck to send Smith in and get a few more shots and extra zone time with that 4th line. Little plays like that and him finding those soft areas in coverage to get his shot off are huge.
And then Luke continues to find a good partnership with Miller on that D pair. Plus he’s getting a better feel for when and where he can step up in the play offensively. Glad to see him get a goal tonight.
Maybe it’s the bottle of sake speaking, but god damn was that the type of game we needed to turn this shit show around. We missed Nico

Similar to the oilers game last year, you hope THIS is the game that we look back on and think of as the turning point of the season.
I really hope Brendan smith as a forward continues to work out because god damn he’s such a likable person, I’m rooting for him to have some consistent on-ice success. His cancer event sounds like such a great thing he’s leading and I hope that it goes really well

What a difference a day makes. The Devils played that game the way they played most of the ’21-’22 season–energy, speed, intensity, great zone exits, generating tons of chances, suffocating forecheck, great at limiting opponent HD chances, kept opponent SOG very low. It is like they just decided to flip a switch and up the intensity and mental focus.
I was at tonight’s game. What a game from the first goal to the last. The most rocking and invigorating I’ve seen the Rock all year long. By far the best game all around the Devils have played in all year. Hope this is the start to something good.
