GAME RECAP: Penguins vs. Maple Leafs (11.25.23) | Saturday Night Resilience

After a disappointing defeat yesterday in Buffalo, the Penguins returned home, where the Toronto Maple Leafs were waiting for a showdown. The game got off to a VERY back-and-forth start, with three goals scored within the span of four minutes: Bertuzzi opened the scoring for Toronto, Jake Guentzel tied it up for Pittsburgh, and then Knies re-took the lead for the visiting team. Guentzel’s tally gave him points in 13 of his last 15 games (6G-11A). Midway through the 2nd period, Noel Acciari picked off a D-to-D pass and put the puck top shelf from a tight angle to tie things up, 2-2, for the Penguins. With only 28 seconds remaining in the period, Erik Karlsson blasted a shot from the blue line for his sixth of the season. Karlsson’s marker gave Pittsburgh a 3-2 edge heading into the final frame. The Penguins battled hard and wore down the Maple Leafs to keep their goal advantage. Toronto pulled their goalie with 3 minutes remaining. Pittsburgh standing tall held Toronto off for the 3-2 win at home.

  1. Good job on the win; hoping for more. Acciari, you dark horse. Hope Pettersson is 100%.

  2. About time they won. Loosing games they should win and winning games they should loose they better start playing with some heart or Sullivan gonna find his way out

  3. glad to see the boys get the win for jars. he's playing lights out lately but the offense has dried up. this team will be dangerous if he can maintain his play and the offense comes back!

  4. Nice win for the Pens. 3rd and 4th lines stepped up. But that powerplay is still awful. If they can ever get it clicking they will be dangerous.
