It is more important for Barracuda to make the AHL playoffs than for Gushin, Bordeleau and company to play in the NHL this season. The Sharks team this season is filled with place holders on shorter term contracts. Some of the D with low AAV contracts can be dumped when the AHL D are kicking down the door. I expect Vlasic will be given the choice of retirement or buyout during the offseason.
I have an unrelated question: someone posted that the Sharks should help to facilitate a trade for Patrick Laine by weaponozing cap space? Or it doesn’t make sense since we only have one retention spot?
