Theodor Niederbach – Detroit’s 51st Overall Selection and Long-Term Project Centerman

Theodor Niederbach was selected in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft 51st overall by the Detroit Red Wings. One of the smaller selections for Detroit (5-ft-11), Niederbach has a very good major junior career to build on. Recently promoted to Frolunda HC (SHL) from the Frolunda HC J20’s, he’ll be looking to add more ice time and hopefully size.
Drawn to him by his creative style and net-front potential, Yzerman and Co. are looking a few seasons down the road at a could-be 2nd line centerman. We took a look at Niederbach and all he has to offer. Will he push his fellow prospects Jonatan Berggren, Michael Rasmussen and Joe Veleno or will he get lost in the ever-growing pipeline?

  1. Teddy is kicking butt in the j20 hopefully he gets some time in the SHL.

  2. Do you see him turning into a 2nd liner behind Larkin or a third behind veleno

  3. I'm a huge Red Wings super fan from Canada since 1984 and still standing cheering for the Red Wings proud.

  4. I REALLY like Niederbach! He has all the potential to be a number 2 Centerman long term. He's 3 to 4 years away, but he's going to be a good one.
    Great video as always 🙂

  5. Ahh yes…another quiver in the arrow belt. lol

Very excited about Niederbach. He's definitely too good for J20 rn. I hope they find a way to give him decent minutes in the SHL this year.
