Had the luxury of being in Denver for the Avs vs. Lightning game on Monday night. Still a better game than whatever the Bears put on Monday Night Football.
Pros: the Avs fans are loud. Ball Arena reminds me of Reunion Arena as it is built a little more upward than outward. Pregame is fun, there is a drum line (Vegas copied the Avs, I’m sure of it because f*ck VGK) playing throughout the arena. They also have a cool intro for the start of the third period. We rode the light rail to the station and it drops you off right outside the arena, not across a parking lot. A few dogs in attendance were highlighted on the video board. They beat the Lightning. Fans were cool when I said I was a Stars fan.
Cons: you have to sit amongst Avs fans. They don’t yell “Stars!” during the anthem. They yell something about the flag still there but whatevs. Their mascot is a dog. They cram “Let’s go Av-a-lanche” into a cheer, sounds ridiculous.
Overall highly recommend checking out a game at Ball Arena. Good food (elk hot dogs were great) and a great atmosphere. But seriously. F the Avs and let’s go Stars!

Sounds fun! Always nice to get to other arenas even if you aren’t a fan
Sounds like you had about as much fun as you could have amongst Avs fans
I lived in Denver for two years, went to…. five or so games while I was there.
It’s a good time. The people are generally nice, the stadium has good sight lines, and the games have been good.
I’m happy you were able to ride the train to the arena. Did you ride it home? When I lived there, the last train was at like 9pm – much too early to take reliably.
It must be completely different when it’s not the Stars playing them. We live in CO now and go to every game when Dallas comes up. The Avs fans are the absolute worst out of any that I’ve ever been to. We’ve had beer purposely spilled on us, my wife was spit on as we left the game after the Avs won, and much much more. The last game of the season last year actually had some cool fans sitting next to us that we chatted with quite a bit. However, the lady sitting behind us started chewing them out for even talking with us because we’re the enemy!
Thank you for your Reconnaissance mission. This is good. We need to get inside their heads, in their homes (home ice), and see how the enemy thinks haha.
