This seems to be kind of out of nowhere.

  1. YAY COYLE! 5 goal effort totally worth it! Now he is either gonna get lazy, or get hurt if he keeps playing like he is 😀

  2. Love both contracts…I really have grown on Coyle, especially his puck protection and skating..I love how he can play up and down the lineup too..

  3. Both local guys. We love that around here. I think both are capable of more offensive upside. Who knows for sure. I think they will. I use the Toronto model as a comparison. If your gonna pay 4 forwards/ 40 million. Both of these contracts are good hockey deals.

  4. In a few years, you have to think the Bruins will start tearing it down. This past summer you did a video on the Bruins and they have a significant amount of players 30+

  5. After last night's game, if I were Don Sweeney I'd be all Jim Treliving on classic Dragon's Den offering it up for Holy Crap! cereal, too.

  6. Coyle's is a good deal; Wagner's a complete steal. Not a number's guy, but tremendously effective.

  7. I think the bruins will trade krech at the deadline for a rental, and coyle will slot up to the 2C, while clearing up cap for Krug.

  8. Too much imo. Don't know why they would give him so much when the bruins team is all about giving small contracts in order to build a stanley cup team.

  9. I think this is more proof Krug is gone by the end of the season. I have been saying for months that Coyle is the most important signing of next summer and if he does resign krug will be out. I would argue that the Bruins should work out a sign and trade or a simple trade at the deadline so they don't lose him for nothing when he walks. I am sure there will be playoff teams foaming at the mouth to pick up a puck moving scoring defenseman.

  10. Personally I think this is a mistake. While I like both deals and like both players I think if you were going to be negotiating during the season it should have been with Krug who already has said he'd take the home town discount to stay. I've been a Bruins fan for a long time. And up until Krug's emergence every year at the trade deadline it was "We need a puck moving defense man." Over and over and over. You finally get the guy and now every years it's rumors about trading him or letting him go. He's not a player you can replace. I know this channel is a big fan of Griz and what he brings to the table and all but best case scenario that kid is a poor mans Krug.

  11. it could be a worse contract, but he's being overpaid for a long-time 3rd line center, sometimes 2nd line. I do think they've signed him cheaper than his free-agent value would have been. In the future this is probably a contract that hurts the bruins more than helps them.

  12. I think Boston will miss Krug terribly. Unfortunately he's probably gone, but they need his offense.

  13. I think it's a good deal. Charlie Coyle was raised in Massachusetts so I gotta give him props, and Wagner, as you said, is a hard worker and knows what it means to be a "bruin". Don't poke the bear!

  14. I bet he is gonna be a bit overpriced come 6th year of the contract but otherwise a good deal for now.

  15. I have 100% faith in Don Sweeney, I don't question him. Love both guys, they give their all and both local boys are playing at another level here. This team is special, the city loves this team again. What I mean by that is that there was a bit of a malaise by the more casual fanbase for a bit but since we've mixed the youth in with the vets…people love this team. The hard core fans are always there but its nice to be talking hockey again with even more people. Go Bruins!

  16. If it means Krug is gone, then it’s tough. But if Krug ends up getting a 10 mil dear somewhere then the Bs will look back and be glad they didn’t let Coyle rest free agency.
What’s tough for Sweeney is you can’t trade Krug, he’s too valuable to this year’s team. If the Bs win a Cup and then he leaves, I think most fans would accept that. If they come up short again and Krug walks, people are gonna wonder why they kept a guy they couldn’t re-sign and have nothing (no trades and no Cups) in return.

  17. 6 years is way to much for coyle especially given his physical style of play. Also it means that the Bruins wont be able to sign Krug Debrusk and Bjork who probably all have a higher upside. Clearly they havent learned from Backes

  18. I'm not a Bs fan but I dont see why Krug would leave. From what I can tell from an outside perspective the Bs are always competitive and seem to have a great atmosphere. Outside of a massive difference in money I'd rather stay where I'm well liked and know the systems.

  19. Krug will get 8mill+ on the open market and I don’t blame him for leaving. As much as it sucks the Bs won’t throw that at one defensemen no matter how skilled. Gunna miss him. He’ll have to sign a real homer contract if he stays.

  20. Don’t mind the money but way to long for Coyle 4 years was the longest they should have went and now there’s a very low percentage that Krug returns as a Bruin which hurts the blue line bad and they don’t have any prospects to feel that spot and Chara mostly will retire at the end of this year
