At this point, why not start Pickard? Skinner is going to continue to let in 4 goals per game on a regular basis. There’s no reason to think otherwise.
The next big question is Connor Brown. He still looks weak. Definitely not 1st line material. Not even close. McD still doesn’t have a legit line. Try Foggle & drop Brown to 3rd line? This has to be fixed. You can’t win without at least 2 good top lines & we only have 1 & it’s not McDs line either.
Oilers probably starting Pickard to see what they have before making a goalie move. If they are going to get a goalie they need a Star goalie. Which they haven't had for a long time.

NO ! We need an ELITE goaltender because we have no defense.
What an oversight not drafting a top tender, look at some of the drafts.. I know teams are drafting tenders later but need better assessment.
