Introducing and allowing online gambling companies into sports has done a lot to make many fans question the legitimacy and integrity of so many games.
I can't understand rich people who fall in to gambling and idc what anyone says xD I will never understand it. If I had that kind of money I'd just live my life happily. But I understand that rich people have this nutty grind mindset.
I work with the ECHL, and this year, they've really cracked down on gambling. We're not allowed to be involved in any sort of sports betting for hockey on any level. I'd imagine NHL players are held to an even higher standard. Not surprised that he's in as much trouble as he is
Let’s say a player is a compulsive/problem gambler…he can walk into a casino and drop his whole check at the tables and refuse any rehab the team or league might recommend…but this guy gets 1/2 a season? For NOT betting on games? While the league collects ad revenue from the gambling sites…?
Can't gamble but surely it would be fine to take a sponsor deal promoting gambling. It's a pathetic position from the NHL. Either you are against gambling or you are not. Don't operate on both sides of the fence.
pinto can sue the nhl and win. i hope he does. all you see in nhl games is advertising for people to gamble. the announcers talk about it constantly. it's on the players helmets. but the players cant bet? why not? sue them shane pinto.
This makes no sense, how can a guy get suspended for half the season, if there is no evidence that he was gambling? No way this is about gambling, there has to be a lot more to it if he's going to be suspended for half the season, and their being very tight lipped about it. It will come out eventually, it always does.
I feel like a dirty hit to injury a star player on the enemy team is going to affect the game negatively way more than a singular nhl player gambling on the league. The punishments should not be this disproportional

The NHL is responsible for exposing our children to gambling and they are complicit in this suspension. It is insulting to watch hockey and be bombarded with gambling ads, knowing that children and adults are affected by this advertising and it is only for increased revenues to the detriment of the hockey fans and players

Not one to throw around the word, but it's hypocrisy at it's highest level. The NHL is full of antiquated and archaic regulations, and needs a full sweep from the top to progress as a sports entertainment brand.
