They need to trade Marner if they move anyone. Nylander is the only McDavidesque game changer the Leafs have.

That is some dominating play in terms of offensive zone puck possession on Nylander's line for the past few games. Incredible.
They have to trade Marner or Matthews,they can't pay 4 players at that prices.it's impossible
There is a part of me that wonders if that contract negotiations is part of why Willy is paying so well. He's fighting that little bit harder every night to prove he deserves what he wants.

In case anyone is wondering, the record for scoring in a game to start the season is 51! By guess who? Yep, Wayne Gretzky. Btw, Mats Sundin is tied for 2nd{with Gretzky) with 30. Sundin did that while a member of the Nords before joining the Leafs. Just to complete Gretzky's best starts, he scored a point in a game to start a season; 51 (83-84), 30 (82-82), 23 (88-89 Kings) and 16 (84-85). When you start being mentioned on lists with Gretzky and Sundin you are doing something right, wtg Willy!!!!
Nice comeback win for the Leafs and no doubt the Willy, JT and Tuzz line deserve the headlines, but a few other noteworthy mentions: Sammy was again solid(though he allowed 1 soft goal), David Kampf is starting to look like old-self grinding in the corners and killing penalties, Jake McCabe was +2 and has solidified the defense since returning and Nick Robertson had a very important zone clear in the 3rd period when Detroit was on the verge of adding to their lead.
Anyone really think he'll take less than what Tavares and Marner is making..?
I want this guy signed for a long time on Toronto he's the best player right now and probably the best player on the Leafs in general sure Matthew's is great but Nylander does everything he scores he passes and picks up pucks he hits he defends and he does all on one game get him signed
It is ridiculous the Leafs haven't signed their best player. Willy is easily the best Leaf on the ice. It might cost $12M+ but worth every cent.
