  1. So, it's now Horvat, a 2nd rd pick, and a 3rd rd pick in exchange for… Filip Hronek, Aatu Raty, and Nikita Zadorov. That's pretty damn good.

  2. From every Calgary writer that I have read since he requested a trade, most were expecting a bidding war that would net them AT LEAST a first round pick, which was obviously ridiculous.

  3. Canuck fan here: I like the trade, the huge Russian dman we've longed for since Nikita Tryamkin. Enhanced security for EP and QH…we hope. 14 goals last season. A violent gentlemen, ya dig? Good trade. Plus, if he struggles or it's not a good fit trade him at the deadline. Patrick Allvin shining bright! Nucks, with Demko backing them could win the cup in now to 3 years.

  4. Jeff Patterson can go pound sand … take the damm mic away .. MR fricken know it all … he acts like he should be the GM … can you say assssssssssss holllllllllllllllllle

  5. Zadarov is a Perfect fit adding toughness to the lineup. Canuks got another behemoth of a man, in addition to the towering Myers at the back end. Joshua can bang and check and score more. The other skilled players have more protectors now! Look out.

  6. I love this trade. I mean, he fits the profile (apart from his shooting hand) of the kind of piece they need. And an important factor? He is Russian.

I don't know how many of you have lived in different countries, but feeling alone is a real thing. Getting along with your co-workers is easy enough, but it's nice to have someone you can vibe with on a more personal level. I taught in Korea for a couple of years, but my life there somehow became a bit calmer when my school hired another Canadian. I had someone I could relate to and had a common ground with. It's hard to explain, but there is a certain sense of isolation when you live abroad and having someone who you don't have to think when you are speaking or even talking about common cultural things matters a lot.

My co-worker and I met (we were both set up in the same apartment building) because her heard me listening to The Hip. I thought I was disturbing my neighbours! Haha..no…it was a fellow Canadian. We're still friends 25 years later.

    It's little things like that.

  7. Can we please stop talking about the OEL penalty. It's still less then what he would have gotten paid and it is still better he's not here for what we were able to add without his cap hit. In year 3 the cap will be pushing 90 million and there will be more then enough room to put out a quality roster around this core.

  8. wow this is a great trade ,i really like this guy he's mobile he can move the puck great size hits, fights protects his players. He is exactly what this team needed ,well done management oh and his 1st game is against the Flames, Saturday Hmm lets see who his friends were'nt lol

  9. Somewhere right now, Steve Dangle is already tearing his hair out trying to keep track of the Cory Schneider or Bo Horvat trade tree… lol

Vegas locker room tonight: "They did what? Who? Ah FK. He's not playing tonight is he? We just played that FKer on Monday… He's not? Ah good."

At the trade deadline, the Canucks might not have to do a damn thing, or at least not be sellers by way of shotgun wedding. If they're sellers, it's selling off redundancy in exchange for more cap space.

I wonder if this pumps up the players tonight? I guess we'll find out. If I were part of the D-core, I'd be stoked.

  10. I'm a jaded Canucks fan who still hasn't jumped back on the bandwagon, but, I do like Alvin's recent trades as no matter how you mix the "this asset converted to this and to this…" The Canucks have acquired solid assets recently for very little cost.

  11. Now we have a management team that know what they are doing. Most of Benning's bad contacts are gone and players weren't being over paid with the hope they can play up to their contacts.

  12. the old management has been making bad decisions for so long, it's unreal to see the new management making reasonable decisions, i still think im dreaming
