Buckeyes suffer first loss of season in Ann Arbor I The Bobby Carpenter Show w/ Anthony Schlegel

A somber mood in Columbus as Ohio State falls to the Wolverines 31-24 for their third consecutive loss to Michigan. How do Bobby and Schlegs feel about Ryan Day? What about Kyle McCord? A deep dive into the Buckeye’s tough defeat. Plus, does OSU still have a chance to sneak into the playoffs? The guys run through the scenarios that would make it a reality. All that, and so much more.

  1. 1. Replace McHonda with duel threat QB with ACCURACY. Lincoln, Air or Devin.
    2. Get 4-5 star O Lineman.
    3. Get big heavy DT, agile aggressive DE and LB
    4. Coaches play to Win not to lose.

  2. McCord is not good. I knew before the game between McCord & Days play calling, Ryan Day gm is hurting Ryan Day coaching. After last years MU game needed to get a transfer legit oline guy like MU did before last year but the Georgia & game last year bailed Day out as a GM getting transfers.. this is gonna be a problem for a loooong time if Day can’t be aggressive in all facets

  3. 4 plays. Came down to 4 plays;
    1. McHonda throws to unopen Marvin, giving TCUN 1st and goal at 7. tOSU did make them go 4 downs to score.
    2. Burke INT overturned
    3. Missing FG granted 50+ yarder.
    4. Styles over pursues in hole misses tackle on Corum to score

  4. For the future of our Buckeyes I think we need to miss the playoffs so Dsy really has to change some things instead of go to the playoffs & get bailed out & not do anything again because they can still beat anyone. OSUs toughness is a problem

  5. No Devin Brown Tebow package, No pop passes, No swing passes to Henderson, no crossing routes like 2019, No trick plays. NO MUTHERFREAKING JUICE.

  6. You know Michigan is running it to kill the clock the last 7 minutes. Last years game got ohio scared to go all in on stopping the run, but that was the moment to do it during those last 7 minutes. When your 9 million dollar coach can’t beat our 1 million dollar interim coach.

  7. Totally agree on RD…. OSU has gotten "there" with his leadership and a play here or there OSU would have 2 more Nattys.

  8. Sorry guys I disagree totally.
They list this game all season by not conditioning for 60 min.
    Not 56 or 57 min. All 60
I used to say this about Ohio State, and I still think that, the conditioning level is the difference.
The trench men won this game in the end. It was those men pressuring Macord. Which eventually produced the interception.
    That’s just what I think.
I also think it was there for the taking for the Bucs.
But Michigan Conditioning won in the end. I have watched the Bucs all my life, I love them except game day.
This game really could have gone your way.
If it makes anyone feel better I went to 4 of these games while I lived in Ohio
    We lost everyone.
Yea walking through Columbus at the end of November with Michigan garb on, was very interesting.
    Great game guys

  9. Most sharpest weapons in the team was never utilized effectively just like last year defeat. Team up north has better game plan.

  10. Michigan had 9 guy's drafted to the NFL last spring. Next spring might be 15. You lost 3 in a row because Harbaugh got some ballers. Now, the question is…who do they have to replace all this talent?

  11. It was there to be had. We did not finish with 30 seconds left. It reminded me of Clemson game int. When we were driving Fields was intercepted. Bam game over. I thought we had them on last drive. Good game. Go Bucks !!!!

  12. Anyone else notice this game was suspiciously close? unlike last years game? But last years team had CJ Stroud who is now TORCHING THE NFL and almost beat Georgia! Damn stupid cheaters.

  13. Michigan fan here. Really good, thoughtful discussion from you guys. My take is that Day and staff seem a little shell shocked in their coaching of this game. Look at how the staff coached against Penn State vs. how they coached in this game, and there just seemed to be a reluctance to do anything bold and risky. Maybe they really believed the only reason OSU lost last year was five big plays. But that seems myopic to me and filled with a little hubris. Day just needs to be bolder in his approach next year.

  14. OSU wins the stat line but, 2 interceptions killed us. Giving ttun a 7 yard scoring drive, you can't do that against the #3 ranked team that was the play that killed the Buckeyes.

  15. Too much over -analysis. 5 stars got beat by 3.5 stars for the third year in a row; this time by a substitute teacher coach. Something wrong in. Columbus.

  16. We need JJ to get healthy, General. Him running is a difference maker. If we dont have that in the playoffs, Michigan is losing in the semis again.

  17. Pretty disappointed, but The Game showed flaws we have been seeing all year!
Where is the Ryan Day fire we saw vs. Georgia? Need the Fire and intensity from coaching staff and the players. Get hyped!
McCord inconsistency! Offensive line, pocket awareness, footwork, read the blitz, and Run!
Again, Be aggressive! It’s not just another game, it’s The Game.
This years offense just seemed like a compressed spring. We saw flashes but never saw it unleashed when it needed. Felt to conservative

  18. Notice how all the 5th graders are just taunting Ohio State fans? On the Buckeyes last drive these same morons were praying and begging God for Ohio State not to score! Somewhere Connor Stalions fainted on that drive 😎

  19. The Ryan Day era is nog going to miraculously get better. Buckeyes need a hard nosed tough minded new head coach . Find a way to get Mike Vrabel up here to begin a championship run and renewed stomping of Michigan. Day needs to go to NFL where he can better use his finesse philosophy

  20. Day has to realize one more thing. OSU v UM is the last game and the “voters” around the country will ALWAYS want to knock the Bucks down. that one loss is NEVER acceptable.

  21. 😅I wonder if there is any time in practice for wide receivers to be coached in defense>. Marvin was close to a possible break up of both Ints.

  22. It comes down to the QBs. JJ made plays with 80% completions and critical runs whereas Kyle threw 2 interceptions. That’s the game right there!
