Tristan Jarry scored the Penguins FIRST NHL goalie goal!! Last season, we got to see Linus Ullmark with a beauty of a goalie goal which was at the time, the first on in the NHL in 3 years. This doesn’t just happen all the time BUT, tonight we got another!! The 17th in NHL history. As The Tampa Bay Lightning hosted the Pittsburgh Penguins, they found themselves down late, pulled Vasilevskiy and the rest is now history. History, as in the first goalie goal in Penguins history, the 17th in NHL history and just a beautiful thing to see if your a Pens fan like I am! I cover it all in todays NHL video

I'm curios by nature and so had to look it up. The bolts came very close to scoring after, Jarry's, goal, had they, that would have made his goal a game winning goal… the first time ever in NHL history.

Thats' a really dumb move to try with .51 seconds still left in the game, had he missed it would have been icing and would have set up a faceoff back in his zone with plenty of time for the other team to score. He got really lucky there.

As a Lightning fan I have to say that I still enjoyed seeing this.
Up until last year, I’d never seen pulling the goalie work. I started working as an usher at an arena last November, and of the dozen or so empty nets I saw working those WHL games 7 were scored on, and there were only 2 times where the extra player managed to score. Both times happened on a power play. Frankly I’m surprised goalie goals don’t happen way more often.
Interesting thing to note: this is the 17th goalie goal in NHL history, but only the 10th goalie goal from a goalie shooting the puck directly in the net. A handful of goalie goals are attributed to own goals where the last person to touch the puck was the opposing goalie. This happens far less than even the statline shows.

Your team is down 1 with a minute left, and you shoot for the empty net… What an idiot. That does not go in it is icing, and the faceoff is in your zone and your skaters are out numbered. Jarry is an idiot, and his team pretty much lack the same mental capacity. He should focus more on positional play, instead of pond hockey garbage.

this was so amazing to witness watching live (via streaming app, haven't made it to a in person game just yet)! i am new to watching hockey so a lot of the time i feel so out of the loop and like an outsider bc so many amazing things happening before i was a fan, but watching history being made by Jarry was truly something special and i'm a penguins fan so that made it more special
