OK Guys, Samuel Montembeault has been signed by the Montréal Canadiens to a brand new contract extension. It’s a 3 year deal valued at 3.15M per season on average. and in today’s video, I’m going to break down the details and talk about the future of goaltending in Montreal.

Best goalie right now, Montembeault, last month it was Allen. It can change quickly. I think we gave him too much. Just my opinion, at least it's only 3 years, I am not against Monty, but he isnt the goalie that's going to take us to a cup, do u disagree? I mean if we ever get the offense needed to go that far, do u honestly think he's a cup winning goalie? I dont, again that's just my opinion. I was hoping they'd trade him, tbh. I know most Habs fans on here, dont agree with most of my opinions, and that's fine. Im not tryin to being rude to anyone when leaving my comment, so please dont be a dick if u disagree. Primeau just isn't mentally strong enough for the NHL.

Isn’t it obvious? Allen is just done. To think that “hockey experts” mostly agreed that they would move Monty and keep Allen…. 🙄
Cayden Primeau needs more time in the AHL. Wish I didn't have to say this in 2023 but it's true. he has put up a 909 Save percentage in the AHL for three seasons now. I know that Laval hasn't been great but you would still like to see more progress in his development. In my opinion, either Volokhin or Fowler will be fighting for the NHL job whilst Primeau will be battling Dobes for the AHL job in the future.
Loving the goal tender decisions. Primeau should be a bargaining chip and Allen should be our close 2nd to Samuel M. Primeau looks like he must not have had much time tossing the ball back n forth as a kid… that glove hand is stiff
Primeau needs to be eased in to the NHL, Maybe half the game at first until the confidence that he's experiencing in practice, translates to wins and more confidence in games, eventually he'll be able to handle the full load. Montreal isn't an easy place to develop young prospects, especially for young goaltenders with a poor start. Just feed him little bits at first!

Who knows which goalie gets moved, but signing Montembault will hopefully get us more IF he's traded. Sammy deserves the contract, glad for him.
Move Allen, hopefully Primeau continues getting better then trade him by next season. Sign a backup for Monty and let Dobeš, Volokhin, or my personal favourite pick, Fowler, take over in a few years
I think we should get what we can for Primeau while we still can – I am not convinced he's an NHL goalie –
Monty is solid and reliable, his number's have improved each, in 2 years he's a all-star. His next contract is 5.5 over 5. Give Primo time goalies deserve it, he's young. and has flashes of greatness.
What we really need is an legitimate scorer.

Monty #1. Trade Primeau for a bag of pucks and some stick tape, keep Allen until trade deadline next season, and hope that Dobes is ready to be the back up in prime time.
By then Jacob Fowler will be in Laval shutting things down on his way to being the next Grade A goalie for the Habs
Naturally, he's our best goaltender, which is why I was puzzled about why he didn't start in the first game of the season against the Maple Leafs. Marty St. Louis said that Jake Allen would give us the best chance to win that game.

I can’t help but think Monty being forced into the net was the best thing for him. Maybe that is something to be said about goalie development during a rebuild.
Let Primeau grind it out win or loose and maybe it will grind out a decent goalie in the end like Monty. Worth the gamble I think.
3.15m is Bahrain for someone that can win rock paper scisors against Shark. Cmon you gotta love that deal😅
Love this deal. Probably our started for the next few years and if not, this is a very easy contract to move.
I mean allen is out eventually, got to keep primo even if he is bad sometimes
